Partly true, Maziga. Yes, the time spent traveling down pitlane is the same for all cars, but that time is a key part to the overall pit lane time (or pit lane bogey) and pit strategy. The player needs to know what the total time is in order to strategize where his car will exit in relation to the competition, and how hard the driver may need to attack to gain an advantage. Or selecting a Fast pitstop instead of a Balanced one.
This aspect of pit strategy is glossed over in the pit menu when it says what position the car will be when it leaves the pits, and who is "close" or "in attack range" or "far behind", etc... The simulation is doing that calculation using the estimated total pit time, but there are no numbers displayed to us.
To MrPalo - I believe the total time is flashed above the car's dashboard display immediately after a pitstop. However, it does not seem to be logged in the Data Center in the Pit History page. I wish it were there, but that might just be me being a glutton for more data! :)
EDIT: I stand corrected: it is there! In the Data Center, under the Pit Stop History, there is a column for "Pitlane Time". I think this is the total time in the pitlane (time to enter box, full pit stop, and time to exit pitlane).
Thank you didn't notice that, I will take a look.
It is not important compared among teams, but between lap with pit stop and lap w/out pit stop.
This can discriminate between a race with 2 or 3 pit stops.
I made some timings.
In WCM, with 2016 base game settings a Phoenix pit stop costs you 20/21 seconds (+pit works - usually 2.5 secs with Steinmann).
Singapore: 11 seconds.
At Doha it costs 8 seconds, because the main straight is very short and the first turn is very slow.
As you can see there is a huge difference among tracks.
Take Black Sea variant C, one of the shortest track where you lose 15/16 seconds+pit works.
If you have a car and a driver who can save you 1 pit stop (fuel, tyres) it would make a huge difference.
