I recently bought the game on switch, i have a question
I kind of liked the less on-hands approach during races, is it possible to replicate that on here? and the whole financing from china-usa-europe thing and upgrades.

I dont know the switch version so can you be more specific about the less-on-hands approach?

As for financing, sponsors are the go to thing

It is a bit hard to explain to be honest, it just feels like a different way to play the game, would've been great to see it added as an option in the PC version. I will play the switch version a bit more later on to get a better understanding of it, I can post that then, if you'd still like to know?

Do you mean the management during races? As in the strategy and the pit stops?

There's a macromanagement mod that allows you to turn it on auto for the drivers, so you won't have to manage their tires and engine yourself. Subsequently, there's also the option to let the AI handle the pitstops.

The Nintendo Switch version came out not too long ago, and the PC version stopped getting updates a few years ago (2017 or 2018), so there's alot of new things in the newer Motorsport Manager games (Mobile and switch) that the PC version doesn't have. For finances, there's only sponsors, while in the other versions there's a totally new system (I think. Long time since i played on mobile).

yeah there are a few different mechanics.

the tweaking before the race is handled via cards for example. You need to boost your car's performance by picking the tweaking cards. but each card has a cost, and the game tells you the cost ranges between x-y. so the card might boost your performance by 20, but it shows you the cost is 2-20, and depending on RNG it might be 20 or 5 or whatever. And you need to have a good mechanic that has enough 'tweak points' that let him be able to keep up/perform this.

I found it a bit simpler and easier to understand after a race or two.

also, upgrading your HQ is done via icons/perks that unlock the facilities and some other bonuses. there is a new world map that unlocks resources that you pursue which can be used to boost various things.

I am not sure if it is better or superior to the pc version if every aspect, but I personally like the things I mentioned, as I found the manual tweaking to be a bit of a chore and a test of patience.

To be fair, I utterly despise the idea of a card system because this opens the door massively for lootbox-shenanigans that should just get banned sooner rather than later and given the current situation, it'd seem to be sooner than later.

If they manage to get the funds together for a Motorsport Manager 2 on PC I'd prefer the pc-mechanics but also with a lot more options. Like how Haas F1 team buys as much as they legally can from Ferrari and how Ferrari and Alfa Romeo work closely together or simply being an engine manufacturer that supplies engines to other teams alongside the upgrades.

It would give so much more dynamic to the game without requiring any sort of card/lootbox-shenanigans.

Aha, fair enough but to be honest, I might've explained it wrong? the card system is like tactic card in strategy games, there is no monetization. you just pick a card to choose what the mechanic does

Qual and practice are combined in the switch version....or really there is no practice and you are making adjustments before making a qual run. The screen comes up with 3 cards, each requiring a range of mechanic wrench points that will improve the car by a fixed number of car points. Mechanics will have between 3 and 20 wrench points depending on their skill level. To improve the car's lap time by 0.1 sec/lap requires 20 car points, and there are milestones at every 20 car points up to 100 points which gets you a perfects set up and 1.0 sec/lap improvement

When you select a card, it randomly picks the number of wrench points to deduct from it's range and then it improves the car the certain car points on the face of the card. The only gambling is when you have say 4 wrench points left and the lowest card option available will cost 3-7 wrench points if chosen. A 3 or 4 results in success and 5-7 results in a "mistake" by your mechanic and your car loses 10-15 points. No lootboxes.

also I don't think you can repair your car's condition between races? can only be done during a race, no?
Inardesco Sep 26, 2019 @ 1:18am
Car is being repaured automatically between races. During that repairtime your factory wont progress new parts or the improvements on existing parts.
