Laptimes in practice aren't really superrelevant anyway I think.
Ive had execllent speed balance, but driver complaining of no drive out the corners, so i had to lower the gear ratio, tweak the downforce to keep the speed balance right, setup was then 99%, for there only being 6 settings, it looks like it could go quite in depth if you could actually get some proper testing in, i.e empty track
That doesnt make sense at all.
Might you have been wrong there in reading the feedback of the driver?
If I have Purple Speed Balance and Yellow downforce, I will change downforce to make it purple so I have to readjust Speed Balance to et it back in the spot that made it purple.
But the driver complaint will always have been about downforce, not about speed balance or gear ratios (as that was purple).
In fact, if speed balance is good or not, they will say: ratios are awesome or they suck. But when Speed Balance is purple they will never ever ask to change ratios.
But it doesnt matter cause as he already says, best laptimes you get out with the 100% Setup.
Its just nice to see the difference to make car fast Accelerate or Max Topspeed and such things.
But for Good/best Setup build it doesnt matter. Just that you come close to 100% as possible.
Hes confirming it with that, that it doesnt matter where you set the Sliders as long you get the maximal %.
So you could get better max % with other options or not?
Is it even possible to get all purple Smiley's with two different setups for the same driver & track?
One setup was at 50 Gear ratio, the other at 44.
Maybe your driver was slowed down by your opponents during his lap? That's usually the main issue during training...
Actually, he didn't say anything about different setups for the same optimal setting. It simply doesn't matter how you achieve the same balance regarding each component.
He was just refering to "ignore" the optimal setting and e.g. go for faster acceleration instead of top speed.
The Devs said it that the 100% is needed for the best laptímes (how you reach it, doesnt matter), The gamefiles says it, and enough testings said it too.
But when you still think it does matter have fun with more testing it :)
@Kesat: i already explained there: http://steamcommunity.com/app/415200/discussions/0/152390648095746598/?ctp=2#c152390648096236253
They still not understand it :)
But a last try, maybe some more understand it:
In Setup screen, the left side (sliders/buttons) are ONLY affecting the Setup on the Right side of the Screen (there where you go for the % and smiley faces).
The LEFT side doesnt affect the Car performance.
Your Performance (and with that your Laptimes) are read out from the RIGHT side.
0,0 is taken from the left side with the sliders and buttons.
Thats why it doesnt matter if you hit a 100% Setup with low or with high Gear Ratio.
