If the car is good enough, get better drivers and designers. That should help you in races.
you dont get my point, why do i start with poor reliability at the start? ive got everyone on minimum 4 stars!
Its part of the Game and to show you the Problems each Team has at start of new Seasons.
And teams like mercedes and so on having problems at Start of Season too which they must handle. And to represent how good your Team is in solving these Problems, you must Upgrade the Facility.
The more you Upgrade the Facility the less Problems at Seasonstarts.
And when you need 4 Races to have decent Reliability you do something wrong. I just need 2 Races with Facility Level 1 for decent Reliability. (And im not using bugs ;))
im talking about both cars, i just repaird my brakes/engine on 1 car! and it was finished right before my second race.
Just dont Push your Cars in first Races.
And make 1 Part in Developement with + Reliability to have less to upgrade at start ;)
As Twix said, do not go for 100%...
In my games I pushed for Factory lvl 2 early, it helps a lot. I also got 2 mechanics that have Nurse as their number 2 upgrade, it is very useful if the only thing holding you back is reliability problems. With Nurse on both I don't have to repair anything in the first race of the season, giving me a very clean edge and win in most cases.
I go for engine/gearbox both up to 60% if possible before race 1, you also have to look at what your first track is going to be. If it is heavy on gearbox you might even want it to be 65%, especially without Nurse on mechanic. After that you are going to want to get brakes up to 50-55%, they tend to go faster than shocks in most of my races. But it could be different for yours!
Remember that Overtake engine mode increases degredation of your parts during a race (unless you have mechanic perk that takes it away), do not spam or abuse it unless you for sure want to spend a nice long time in the pits race 1.
All in all start of season 2 was a little bit challenging since I had not gone through the process, but season 3 was quite easy for the first couple races, and with continued facility upgrades I don't see it being a problem in the future.
And yeah, as face said, try getting a Mechanic with Nurse skill :) Woud help you too. For most Problems there already solutions with Traits there :)
Then again, using Archer BMR and running short races, I was able to win the opening race in ERS for the first time ever so it's not too bad. It's just a hassle and I HATE the opening few races.
Here's a few of tricks I use to get through the first race or two.
1. When the season starts I work on Engine and Gearbox realibility for 10-12 days and then Brakes and Suspension for 3-5 days depending on how much time is left before the first race. If I have only 2 realibility slots I do my #1 driver. Either way, it takes longer in the pits to repair engine and gearbox so get them as good as possible before the race(above 50% if possible). The brakes and suspension are quick fixes in the pits so their starting realibility is less important(above 45% would be good but 40% will work). I do that for 2-3 races or until I don't have realibility issues anymore. It's a gradual process but it works.
2. After the opening 1-2 laps of that first race I back off of the engine modes for most of the race. I'll either run in neutral or low mode to save wear on parts. The only time I use high or overtake is on the opening laps or when I'm a lap or so from a pit stop and I'm doing repairs. I will push then but only for a short time. Slowing down the race wear is priority #1 for me.
3. Some race mechanics have perks that will help at the beginning of a season. No red zone is one. 50% less repair time is another. There's also one that gives no engine damage in higher modes. All of those are good for the first 1-3 races. Try to find a mechanic that has one of those perks and next season the first race is much easier.
Anyway, I'm with you on the realibility issue. It sucks and does need some tweaks, but it's managable and not worth quitting the game over.
But i mean, i can handle the Reliability with just Level 2 good too with just a bit micromanagement.
Would i have Level 3 or 4 nothing more to do there :)
its 3
maybe first one but after then you really should be fine.
Change how you do it, your focus on important parts and bit management with stopping week progress to change the items when they have enough reliability.
As said its possible to have just small Problems with Facility 2 in first race and after that i dont need any repair.
So finetune your work ;)
