pit fire
i was leading a race to lap 7 (for the 1st time ever) when i went in to pit during a yellow flag, sure as ♥♥♥♥ i had my first ever pit fire, quite excitng graphically i must say, but i noticed a few bugs.
the car stayed in the pit for the rest of the race and my driver kept sobbing 'i'm ok, but car is destroyed" for the rest of the race, also, during the post race windup the mechanics said my car condition only dropped 22 % even though driver said car was destroyed.
hope it doesn't happen again, time to get rid of the offending pit crew.

It's even in the intro video of the latest update/dlc.

There have been pit fires in the past in formula 1, but they are very rare to see.

in other types of motorsports like endurance racing; IMSA, Blacpain and WEC, especially at the 24 hours of LeMans, pitfires can happen.

Anywhere were cars are refueled, fires happen...
Check for Indycar pitfires... they are horrible because their fuel burns more efficiently and therefore you don't see flames...

Don’t worry guys, its only a pixel fire!!

It happens when your race mechanic is terrible or one of your pit crew is terrible. There is a little icon on their portrait.

After the patch, I took 20 mins trying to adjust my pit crew (adjusting for skill and stamina) not knowing that their contracts can expire without warning on the next race and the game auto fills the crew slot with a clown.

it shouldn't matter how good they are at their job, even the best can make that mistake that causes a pitfire.

No. That's very mediocre thinking.

No thats just the way things are, there is no such thing as perfect or being 100% certain on anything. Mistakes will always happen, that is part of the learning experience and that should never be taken as a negative.

No you said it shouldnt matter how good they are at their job. That is mediocre thinking and sometbing you would say to someone who sucks at his job.

But it is not true. It should and it does matter! Why is there anything like training and education then? To make people better. Why are there armies with elite soldiers? Because they are better than regulars. Etc.

Are the best at their job completely faultless?
No. But trust me, in a pro environment (like an F1 raceteam) eveey fault will be investigated -to make people better-.

Obviously the better you are at your job, the less mistakes.

So it does matter how good you are.

precisely my point, mistakes happen even when they happen to the pros, it will be something to learn from and there is nothing stopping that from happening at all. anyone can make mistakes, anyone, and attacking my type of thinking with cheap pot shots won't change that.

You clearly said "it shouldn't matter how good they are at their job".

That's not a cheap pot shot.
In game terms would you not agree that someone with a 0 for Refueling stat would be more likely to cause a pitfire than someone with 9?
That's how this should work, don't you think? Ergo it *does* matter how good someone is at their job.

Regardless, in this game i belive the mechanic stat refers to speed and stamina is for mistake chance. A fire risk icon on a particularly crappy mechanic means fire risk is present as well, so fire risk isnt present all the time.

I do know pit fires happen irl, I was just not expecting it to be in the game. Does the game immediately follow that incident up with a no refueling vote?

I dont recall seeing it before the pit crew management patch, however, terrible mechanics have a fire icon as well as burnt out crew i believe.

Ive had a fire once and it did not prompt a vote.
