Effect of weight reduction too high
Hello, nice update guys!

But I think the weight reduction is too powerful. I went from finishing 14th - 18th to finishing 1st / 2nd / 2nd / 1st since I reduced the reliability from 100% to 75%. (Only developed 2 new parts in that time)

Just my opinion of course, what do other players think?

I think I agree, and the -10 red zone option is also extremely powerfull, as you can reduce 10 more weight from 100 with those components, giving another 30 performance through fast reliability improvement.

Additional info:

It's my 3rd year, my first in the 'Asia Championship'. The team was ranked 8th to 6th the last 4 races (were I finished 1st/2nd/2nd/1st), drivers are both 3 Stars.

I normally shouldn't compete for the podium.

Yup, needs to be more balanced.
Agreed.

I did some testing and managed to easily double win the first two races in F3 (Fire Mod) just by maximum wheight stripping and reparing the cars during the race. Much to overpowered. I takes away all the fun. At least until it is balanced correctly.

I am now in the second season of my second career, Archer BMR (after a trial run of two seasons to get into the game). I was happily fighting for 5th place when I understood how to maximize the weight stripping advantage in the car build-up, and now in the last half of the season I am finishing 1st and second, sometimes lapping almost the whole field, while I did raise the AI difficulty from normal to realistic. I feel kind of cheated out of real competition.

I like the principle of the mechanism, but the AI isn't very good at utilizing it, and its effects seem too strong.

Agreed. The game feels way too easy now and is no longer fun to play as a result. Very disappointing.

Maybe the devs can add an option to the game settings where we can toggle the weight stripping mechanic ON or OFF. Either do that or fix the weight stripping mechanic so that it isn't ruining the experience of taking the time to build up a team.

+2...eliminate it...or tone it down...or for example you reduce you reliability by say 10% for a component... it then stays reduced by that 10% at the completion of the race...must be restored before the next race.

Ya this feature is very over tuned currently. When you design your first part iteration with an average component, you generally can chose between 10% reliability or 20-25 performance depending on risk levels. This just means it's always better to design early part iterations with reliability components and then during the race weight strip that reliability for some sweet performance. You'd gain a net of 5-10 performance over the regular component that only increases part performance values. Of course this isn't sustainable as mechanics improve the parts to 100% reliability you eventually fall behind, which is why later part iterations are better off designed properly. That way the part still scales well into the end of the season and also carries its superior stats over to the next season.

Example:
Engine: 100 perf 70% (avg component +10%)
Weight strip: 130 perf 60%

Engine: 120 perf 60% (avg component +20 perf)
Weight strip: 120 perf 60%

Does anyone know what the ai does with the weight stripping ? otherwise just copy what they are doing to counter the effect ?
but the ability to turn weight stripping off in settings would be best for now!

Yeah I have the best car on the grid with the best driver and she has been qualifing 7th-13th! And for my second driver (Who has the nurse perk) shes been winning by 40 plus seconds every race!

Max weight stripping + Full parts replacement every pit stop is my new strategy. And aggressively run in overtake since I'm going to replace the engine anyway.

Engine and gearbox repairs should take at least twice as long as they do now.

That overtake and repairing parts tactic won't work luckily when refueling is banned.

Overtake mode should be what's it named, only for overtaking and maybe for some critical laps. There should be clear limitations for using it in terms of fuel usage and part wear meaning also that car repairs can't be done as quickly as atm.

I would want to hear if that super overtake/overtake mode works in all conditions atm? I would imagine there might be some difficulties if you don't start up front. Also if track temperature is high and tyre wear is also high using overtake mode forces you at least to use lower driving mode. I imagine overtake mode tactic also needs unlimited pitcrew rule in order to work.

To be honest, engine and geabox repair should not at all be possible. I have never seen this happen in real life. The repairing kind of breaks the whole weight reduction system.
You can take all the performance increase and then unrealistically repair your car within a few seconds.
Would be better if an engine or gearbox that breaks is a retirement (this way at least we can see some).. I get that you can change your wings.. also suspension repair should also not be possible..

I don't think the devs really want to change this, maybe firered can mod something like this ?
Or is it too hardcoded into the game ? Would make the game so much better!

This clearly points out what the flaw in the game is atm
