One Driver or Two?
Is it worth focusing on just one driver and let your second and reserve drivers just be the plain default drivers? Could save some money by developing parts for only one car and only having one high paid driver. Granted, if that driver wrecks on a race, you are left with a very crappy driver to carry you through the race.

Alternately, you can have a paid driver designated as "Second driver" and a paid driver for your reserve that don't require a high per race salary.

Thoughts?

Early on its good to have a top notch P1 Driver and a WIP P2 Drivver. THe p2 will cost less can you can invest in their future more

Thank you for that input. With that said, do you suggest focusing your upgrades on the first driver's car and let the second driver just get the left overs? I am thinking I may have answered by own question as well.

That is a very valid strategy.
Mind your driver contracts though. A driver that signed on equal terms requires the same car as his teammate and a driver thats hired as No. 1 will need a better car.

And the "leftover" parts that come of the no.1 for your 2nd driver will not be bad. He will get a very decent car soon enough if you keep developing, so the no.2 will be only trailing behind slightly.

Defining NO.1 and NO.2 driver is a very common strategy both in game and in real. I just say why in game is better than 2 equal drivers.
First of all, your money is limited, that means you can't afford 2 top level drivers. Also, you can only produce one component at the same time, so giving same performance car for 2 equal driver is very hard. If your budget is enough, signing a top level drive with long time contract and an average driver with short time contract is a reasonable strategy

Another strategy that works well is to give both main drivers the Number 2 contract. That way, neither one expects to have a better car, and the one that does have the better car will be over the moon about it!

Keep in mind, that will only work if you hire drivers that are middle of the road in talent. If you want a top talent driver, you will need to give that driver a Number 1 contract. The above strat is good for starting out.

Happy Driving! :wheel1:

If you want to get out of the ERS asap having two good drivers is worthwhile. As you get points for every place even in you can average say 4th and 8th in most races youll most likely win or nearly win the championship just based on consistently getting more points than the AI who tend to focus heavily on 1 driver with the other being left to drive a heap of crap.

In the Asia Pacific its actually much more worthwhile to have just one main driver as only the top 6 score so unless you have near identical parts and great drivers your better off just focusing on 1 guy/girl.

Thank you all for your feedback. I just started season 3 so focusing on my main driver, Santa Ana, for now. I have a pretty decent second driver, though she is capped. Both contracts are up at the end of the season so at that point I will change them, or new drivers, to a #1 / #2 setup and go from there. In the meantime I am focusing on upgrading Santa Ana's car as much as I can.

I had a second though as I typed this. At the turn of the season, do both cars get the same starting stats as the best of the two, or will they fluctuate some based off how they were done the previous season?

To quote myself from the thread "new season parts" that investigated that question:

Curiosity got the better of me so I quickly pulled some data from EnterElysium who conveniently had a recent episode where you can see his parts right before and after the game modifies them.

Lead designer stats
Engine 11
Gearbox 8
Suspension 14

Chassis
Improvability 1 star (+8max)
Base engine modifier +0

Parts before
Engine 130/130.....70/70
Gearbox 112/112.....82/82
Suspension 87/87.....47/47

My prediction (assuming I'm correct about how the game does this)
Engine 141/149.....81/89
Gearbox 120/128.....90/98
Suspension 101/109.....61/69

Parts after
Engine 142/152.....82/87
Gearbox 121/132.....91/106
Suspension 101/112.....61/76

Prediction error
E +1/+3.....+1/-2
G +1/+4.....+1/+8
S 0/+3.....0/+5
(+2/+11.5 potential pattern???)

Given that the errors seems kinda random with no discernible pattern, I'd further hypothesize there is some sort of rng applied to these stats probably as a result of (to effectively simulate) part failures that occur during the preseason testing.

As for my later question regarding what becomes the base stat value in the new season, he unfortunately didn't design any new parts in that episode. So I guess that remains a mystery for now (until his next ep comes out at least) as I can't be bothered to dig for another example.

Essentially the 2 parts that carry over get equivalent buffs applied to them and they each become a new original part. So if it was a 100 and 80 part last season, in the new season they gonna be 120 and 100.

*the new season base stat is determined from the higher of the 2 parts + lead designer X part stat. In the quoted example, enterelysium base engine stat for the new season would be 153/163.

To follow on from what i said, you find a decent 3/4 star driver, probably older, not likely to get any better to carry your team for a season or two. Your P2 Driver is your FUTURE P1

Good info. Thanks a lot.
