Is part development progress saved when a part becomes spec?
Apologies if this has been asked before.

After promoting to the Asia-Pacific Championship, I realised that in this championship the engine is spec.

Unfortunately I've invested quite a bit during the Euro Championship to build a track, and my engine was my best part (and of course front and rear wing are now terrible compared to anyone :-).

My question is, if the engine is ever voted to become non-spec (or I promote or relegate to a championship where engine is not spec) will I still have my ~600 engine that I developed during my time in the Euros, or will it be back at 150/300 standard and I have to start from scratch?

It's all RNG my friend. It can be voted to non-spec, you just need to get lucky for the vote to pop up. There are 2 things you should now about... First, when you move up to the next league, you loose all progress on your current parts, and get new ones that are somewhat competative. In APC, you will start with the 9th worst car. Second, when a part is removed from SPEC, everyone starts over on development progress on that part. So in ERS, everyone will start with a 150 engine, APC will be a 300 engine etc etc. Hope this helps.

Cheers buddy yeah that last bit is what I was wondering about. So what I meant was, in ERS I started with a 150 engine, in 4 years worked it up to a ~600 engine. Now after promoting to APC, I and everyone else have a spec 300 engine. Say for next year the engine is voted to be non-spec; will I then start with the 300 as my standard first engine, or with the ~600 that I had been developing prior? If I understand you correctly it would be the first.

Also are you sure you lose all progress though when you promote? It looked like my better-developed parts still had more progress than less-developed ones. Not sure if they were the same performance numbers as at the end of my last season though - I'll have a look tonight to confirm this.

Thanks

Next year you will start with a 300 engine :) . The parts you develop in one league do not carry over to the next league. Your car might be better BEFORE the pre-season, but once you build next years car, you will quickly realize (like I did) that your parts do not carry over :( . When I moved up from ERS, I had the second best suspension in APC. When I built next years car, dropped all the way down to 9th in the list.

Ouch - what a waste of money and time that engine development has been then haha. Should have paid more attention to the APC rules.

Thanks for that!
