Starting Strategies for drivers
When are the times to use Overtake and Aggressive starts compared to moderate or slow starts etc?

I find that I can't quite grasp this as when I try different strats, it doesn't work out how I intend them to - such as Over take but it seems my drivers get... over taken. Such as the same when I choose a more relaxed engine mode to start but wait till my temps are higher before hitting the throttle etc.

Any adivice would be appreciated.

I'm No1 ranked in both top speed and acceleration

Honestly? if you can afford it and can get your reliability upto 100%, try just sticking to mostly Throttling the car entirely as much as possible (overtake/Attack), get ahead and then drop it down a bit. You will have to pit more then the AI when you do this but if you plan your strategy and manage to keep your car from falling apart, its the best tactic.

Also if you know you have bad parts and have to come in for a repair at some point, feel free to get them broken to the bone first, get the most out of it before that long pit stop.

Simple max attack for 2 laps, drop it to medium for two laps, then to normal. After that adjust as required for racing.

I think a lot depends on the type of track and starting position on the grid as well.

If you are at the back of the grid and on a tight twisty track, it is sometimes very hard to overtake whatever strategy you use. This is when pit stop strategy come into play and stopping at the right time can get you further up the field. I sometimes don't attack until the last few laps of the race when I know I have plenty of fuel to do so.

There are many things to factor in. The overtake mode isn't just an automatic pass button, you can run on overtake and high tyre wear for a couple laps and still not manage to pass any cars.

This is something that you should read the race, read the positions, and look at what other cars are doing. If it is a windy track difficult to overtake, maybe change your strategy to run longer. One thing i did in ERS because of the reverse order. I would either, Pit early to get my car 2-3 laps in open air. Or i would run on medium fuel and conserve the tyres so i could have 2-3 laps where the A.i. had all gone in the pits.

Clean open road is where your car will run at its best so look at adjusting your strategy to take advantage of that.

Maybe you do want to push the car hard if you're at the front of the pack and want to stay there. To avoid falling back, keep in mind at the start of races the A.i. usually runs super aggressive for 2-3 laps. So you may have to run hard there... or ease off and pick your moment to attack later.

In my opinion there is no perfect super effective system to use to overtake everyone and get the most out of the car. Sometimes you get caught behind a slightly slower car, and thats just how it is... You can push hard and maybe over take, or you can ease of keep pace and wait for him to pit, then push like crazy when in open air.
