Spec Parts Question
I am in WMC. GMA recently had a vote for spec brakes and it passed. If a vote comes up again to remove spec brakes then what level of parts do teams start with? Do they all have a level playing field or do they revert back to whatever the performance level was pre-spec part vote?

EDIT: Couple responses don't really pertain to my question. If a spec part gets voted out (meaning teams can develop next season) then what does game set for part performance for next season? Your last current brake part or does it set everyone even until you start developing?

Same question! First season in the Predator challenge, politico background, and there are votes to switch engine (already passed) and gearbox to spec. Not sure if a curse or a blessing.

I would also like to know this.

If you get a vote to go to spec parts, vote for it every single time. Spec parts are great, as they dont need any research or performance upgrades and save you mega bucks and time during the season for other critical parts of the car.

My ERS is an almost full spec racing series with only gearbox and suspension development allowed. Ive made mega bucks and invested it in the HQ and staff and my cars are bloody fast. Its only downside is that a bad pitstop or a mistake costs you massively as the racing is so close. Its a two second field spread top to bottom, and depending on the track and conditions almost any driver can win.

AoD_lexandro we have the same exact setup... Everything is also spec in my ERS except gearbox and suspension. Personally, now that I have money and good drivers, I am anxiously waiting to vote against the existing spec parts to let me pull out ahead in the race.

They start off even for all the teams with the respective designer bonus ofcourse, for the next season. For example, if you had spec engines (300) and voted it to be removed next season, you'd get engine (300+designer bonus) for the next season. Applies to all the teams.
The teams promoted to the said current series will benefit from this since they'd have much developed engines.
I hope this is what you wanted to know.

Yes, thank you!
Do you reckon that ("The teams promoted to the said current series will benefit from this since they'd have much developed engines.") needs some fixing by the devs? It sounds pretty bad, the team relegated from above would probably run away with the title, and the newly promoted team could be a serious contender, leaving the pack lagging behind, and that could possibly repeat for multiple seasons

Well, I can't seem to it see as an anomoly. What happens in WMC is restricted to their domain. The rules and regualtions in APS or ERC is independent of what happens in F1. And it is highly unlikely that the promoted teams have much higher performance in other areas. The traditional teams will catch up in no time.
For example, In one of my saves, i had reached the Max performance cap and Ernie reset the performance to the lowest level for all teams. At the end of the season when "Velan racing " was promoted, they had better parts in every area ( absolutely freaked me out) but after the pre season ended, they were given relative performance parts comapred to the other teams. In a way, you could say they were f**cked. So, I think this syatem needs to be properly "explained" rather than be "fixed" by the devs.

But is it wise to make all parts to spec parts?

It can be useful if you have budget isseus (you have 0 development expenses) or if you have better drivers than other teams (will become the only discriminating factor in performance), even more if drivers aid rule is deactivated
