If you think you are going to win that years series, save your money. You are better off investing it in the better drivers/staff which will be accessible when you are promoted
But then why would I do that? I had already opted to stay in the ERS for an extra season to develop brilliant parts hoping the improvement would carry accross to the APC.

Agreed, even if you have an absolute abomination of a car in the ERS, should you gain promotion to the APC, the upgraded car will not be too uncompetitive. You are in a good enough spot where you can at the very least avoid finishing 10th and dropping back down
