Will I get fired?

So I am now in my 7th WMC season where I have to finish as 4th in the team standings, but I am way off from reaching that. I might still get 5th out of the season, but 4th place is almost impossible to get unless a miracle happens.

Will I get fired from my own team if I don't reach the chairman goal this season? That would really suck :P

I don't know really, you can still be below your championship standings and yet keep his morale high enough due to driver traits and finishing 4th in the races.

Not unavoidable. If your chairman reaches 0 happyness, you will get an ultimatum. Then you have to finish the race in a certain position or better. If you do, you have avoided to get fired for now.

Well the thing is that I finished 4th last season without any problem (where the goal was to finish 6th) so I went this season for 4th place end result, but this season the other teams are much more competitive than last season. I am struggling at 6th place now and I am only able to get 1 car in the points during the races. My chairman is not happy to say the least and my job is now 'unsecure'.

So it will come down to the last race? I guess I will have to use the illegal parts for next season then and hope I get away with it :0

You might get fired. One of the YouTubers I'm watching is in a similar predicament. Usually he can get 1st (team) easily but Flores (his best driver who used to secure p1 finishes) is too old now and started to decay, so now he's having a hard time securing first in team position (p3-5 ensures a team 2-3rd for the weekend). Chairman's morale is low, but not enough for an ultimatum since occasionally he does finish the race as first (team) giving the chairman a morale boost. However, overall the team is usually second behind Kitano and the chairman said you better finish first at the end of the season (mind you this is around race 6/15) or he'll be fired.

When I got an ultimatum from the chairman it was only to get a certain place on the next race. Sounds like there may be multiple types of ultimatum.

There's threats and there's an ultimatum. The threats come when the Chairman tells you you are below your expected ranking. The ultimatum comes when you are required to reach a certain position in the very next race.

I hope it will mean something to the game/chairman that I performed better than needed the other 6 seasons, but I fear the worst. I have only 5 races to go and I didn't get an email yet so maybe thats a good omen.

I am OCD on this game as it is, if I have to restart to get my custom team on the 1st position it will be an other gaming marathon of 200+ hours that ruins my already lite social life :p

The Ultimatum (at least the one I got) is succeed or fail. I got one in my third season that required I finish 5th or better. I was running 4th with a lap or two left and my driver was overtaking for 3rd. As he started to pull ahead the other drive drove into my driver's wing and that was it. I got canned after the race. It seemed a bit unfair as I was hitting the goal and the reason we didn't reach it was out of my control, but that's how the ultimatum works.

As I understand it even with your own custom team the game treats you as a hired manager that can be fired.

It's a bit harsh that you can get fired at your first fail even if you have done well in previous seasons. It would be less of a big deal if you had better 'team goal' offers from the chairman at the start of the season. The choices I had was finish 9th, 4th or 2nd and with 4th it was already pushing it and hope for nice rain moments in the races. There should have been offers from the chairman to finish as 5th or 6th in the season as well I think, but it's all or nothing for the chairman.

If you manage to finish the season without an ultimatium, you will not get sacked, even if you miss the season target.

The chairman will tell you otherwise in an email every week, but as there is no event for missing the season target, the happiness will not change after the last race.

I just got the email that said I will get fired if I not reach the set goal with a "no pressure" at the end lol. I think I'm screwed heh.

Really? The chairman threats seemed pretty insistent that finishing below the promised target would result in a big no-no that would then be punished with immediate dismissal. As soon as the lead was reclaimed, an email followed suit saying "good to see you're back on track." It seems odd that after insisting on the threat so much it wouldn't actually do anything.
