Declining Promotion
With a race left, I'm sure I'm going to win the ERS. Should I remain in the ERS and build my infrastructure or take the promo to APS? I'm ranked about 6th in most categories in the ERS (slightly worse drivers, worst marketability, best staff). Any advantages of staying down or should taking the promo be a no brainer?

Take the promo. The money in ERS is not worth it. It'll take you longer to build up your hq if you stay in ERS, even if you come last in APS and get relegated, which you won't because APS is easier than ERS imho.
And if you plan on going up to WMC in the long run, unless parts get reset it'll be harder in WMC the longer you take to get there.

Yeh i agree with Jacques if i had the chance to win and get promotin earlier then the 7 seasons it took me id jump on it going from about 11 12 mil prize money to 20 odd mil has realy boosted my team nd saved my ass from bad bad debt it is totatly worth it just dont finish last in APS i finished 6th in my first year in APS the prize money and next year target oney i pushed development all the way to last race and came 2nd in my 2nd year with a race win and a few podiums 90 points to 108 , check out the Progress thread for create own team there is good info here an there also if your doing an originaal team we would love to hear your updates too check it out and year APS is the way to go take the tme in APS to build up the HQ and money its what im doing now

The money you earn from last place inAPSC is higher than the money you can earn in ERS in first place.

well, its really hard to tell, but with your bad car and bad markebility i would agree.

On the other hand, you get less money, as you cantfulfill the sponsor target for top positions.

I'm in my 4th season. I started with ZRT. In my second season I finished 2nd in the ERS. I got there through development over the season and building up some infrastructure. I improved more than other teams over the course of the season. I figured 2nd would be a good goal for seaon 3, knowing I would start off slower, but make up ground by the end. After four races I got the finish 5th or above ultimatum. I didn't know ultimatums were a thing, and thought I wasn't planning to be second by race 4, but by race 10! In the 5th race I was running 4th and battling for 3rd. Things were looking good with 2 laps left, then, as my driver was overtaking 3rd place, he got tapped in the rear of his car and spun into the wall. That was me finished with ZRT. I took a position at Silva for the last half of the year. I 6 races and 4 podiums and season 3 was over.

Season 4 has seen 10 races, 10 podiums, two wins (including a 1-2 in the most recent race), and I'm looking set for promotion. I'm midpack in a lot of categories, and Silva is pretty terrible with marketability, but with one race to go, I'm looking pretty sure for promotion. I could end with 2 dnfs and a 1-2 by the team who got demoted from APS, but I doubt I'll finish low enough to give up my lead. Sounds like it's onward and upward!

Thanks for the advice.

Each year you don't promote is another year for the top teams in that next tier to get ahead of you. Promote as early as possible, as the gap is smaller then.

I went up to the APS before I was ready and almost got sacked becuase of it. Also I didn't really notice that much of a money difference until the end of the season when I got my prize money.

As long as the chairman doesn't give you ridiculous expectations like 3th, 6th or 8th upon entering a new series you should be fine.
