Blue flags killing any strategy
If you're running a lower midfield team, blue flags destroy any strategy. My driver was running 10th, with fresher tyres than anyone immediately front or back, and had a 10s lead on the chasing pack. Then come the leading pack, 4 or 5 five cars running in train mode, about to lap him, and it took just a couple of laps to lose more than 20 seconds, get caught and overtaken by the pursuers, and dip into the depths of classification from which there was no turning back. It's frustrating. In real racing you try to minimize the time you lose letting the leaders go by, and in a situation like this when you have 4 or 5 cars about to lap you it is better to just slow down and let them all go through at once, quickly gooing back to pace, than to linger around for god knows how many laps losing far more time than it was needed. I love this game, but it really needs proper blue flag implementation.

It's not all that different in real life. The likes of Manor were always inconvenienced by that. If you know you're going to be lapped, make sure your strategy revolves around that as much as possible.

In F1 2012 a while back, I did a 100% race in Korea with a couple of friends against the AIs in the 3 worst cars, and despite being slower than the two of them, the way I beat them was by running more stints on the options but timing my stops so that I would spend less time around lapping cars than they did, which worked perfectly. As much as it might pain you to sometimes bring your cars in while they still have a bit of fuel, it could easily help you in the long run if you time it right.

There's no denying that the blue flag system is still a mess even with the countless fixes and reworks though. If they want to fix that, they need to work on the overtaking system first and foremost, since even with the blue flags, the game still thinks that two cars next to one another are fighting for position at all times, thus hurting the lines of everyone involved.

We've made an adjustment in the patch released yesterday that should improve how blue flags work. We've also added a toggle option so you can turn them off entirely if you wish.

This is also doing my nut in, if you, sorry, when you need 40sec repairs then you get overtaken, you can have a faster car on better tyres, you overtake the lead car for the blue flag to come on in the next corner and your driver will surrender and then attack again.

In real life if you're faster then you can unlap yourself and crack on.

The blue flags work fine for me thanks to the patch.

I love the new blue flag toggle option, in some races I have the blue flag disabled completely and it results in a smooth race with a more satisfying outcome.

To be fair, this is a huge pain for the guy ahead as well.
