Your wages are quite low compared to my game not sure what drives salary inflation but for comparison. Nobody will in my game work for a WMC team for much less than a million per race and most want 2-3mill signon bonus as well.
Rossini - 903k, 781k
Kitano - 1006k, 886k
Steinmman - 820k , 650k
Panther - 1200k, 998k
Chariot - 1600k, 960k
Rezzato - 1056k, 952k
Windsor - 590k, 500k
Boa Esperenza - 1982k , 653k
Velan (just promoted) - 450k, 519k
4 star and higher drivers coming off contract at the end of the current season -
Ziff Fragoso - 1100k
Chiaki Hashimoto - 1200k
Fran Mare - 900k
Vincent Dorneval - 930k
Rachel Cain - 801k
The top 5 drivers in my game all have break contract clauses over 15million as well.
I can't see Serkhan so he must need scouting 3 and I only have level 2.
Best new talent in my game is Fran Mare , 17 , 4 star with 5 star potential but as above she got 900k in her first season as an unscscouted rookie for an ERS team with a 1.5million signon bonus.
Hell Steinmann in my game are paying their mechanics 400k a race. :) The lowest paid reserve driver in the WMC is still on almost 400k a race.
Ziff Fragoso - turned down 1.5mill per race and 1.5 mill sign on bonus
Hashimoto - refused to take an offer
Fran Mare - refeused 1.2mill per race and 2mill sign on bonus
Dorneval - turned down 1.1mill and 1.5mill
Cain - got hired by Panther
I found a driver in GT tier 2 on 220k per year, they turned down 700k per race and 750k signon bonus and race/qual bonuses of 120k to come race in F1.
I got one 4 star driver with 5 star potential for 1.2m per race and chasing all the others Webb quit so would actually go into 2028 with only 1 driver contracted.
Are you running a mod perchance? There is noway even unemployed drivers will work in WMC for less than 1 mill a race for me.
When I signed Stoutjesdijk he was on 2-2.5stars and in the offseason alone he improved with half a star thanks to his innate improvement. He then spend a year in a reserve seat and the 2nd year of that contract he drove for the team, despite having a reserve contract.
Lara has been around since season 2 so there's a lot of driver-team loyalty calculated in that and she accepts contracts even if she's paid less than the previous contract due to that loyalty.
Personally, I don't look to how many stars a driver currently has, but how much potential s/he has. If I see a driver with 2-3stars and 5star potential, and I'm in need of a new driver, I sign that driver for a fraction of the cost another team would. Then I put that one in a reserve seat and nurture him/her until s/he is 4stars and then I let him/her race. That's how I've always done it and because of that, I tend to having to pay a lot less than other teams.
Eve Harding (mechanic) on 112k per race rejects 197k per race (insulted) and 1.2mill signon bonus (insulted) and 157k per race/qualify bonus (neutral).
Hystand (4.8 star mechanic unemployed ) turns down 220k per race (insulted) and 2000k signon (insulted) , fair enough he joined Rezzato on 448k per race 2 weeks later.
Fragoso (driver) rejects 1232k per race (unhappy), 2100k signon bonus (unhappy).
Dorneval (driver) rejects 1383k per race (unhappy) , 2100k signon (insulted).
Mare (driver 4 star, 5 star potential age 17) accepted 1027k per race , 1575 signon(unhappy) so less than I offered her the time above
Ng (the 3.5 star , 4 star max gt2 driver from above) accepted 686k per race and 900k signon.
Hansraj (4 star driver) rejects 1100k per race (insulted) , 1500k signon (insulted)
Cain - hired by Panther again for 1.43mill per race
Lalmuankima - hired by Rezzato Corsa for 983k per race
McAnulty - hired by Rezzato Corsa for 804k per race
Hashimoto - refuses to deal again
Not to mention this season only 5 new unscouted drivers appeared the talent pool in my game is very small at the moment plus a huge # of established drivers retired at the end of 2027.
Anyway, aint nobody coming to work for me for 400k a race :)
3rd time around
Hashimoto - to Kitano for 1800k per race
Lalmuankima - to Rezzato for 938k per race
Fragoso - accepts 1320k per race , 2500k signon
Mare - accepts 1023k per race , 1800k signon
Cain - to Panther for 1483 per race
Dorneval - bizzarely takes 830k and goes to APSC so a demotion and 50% paycut
Hansraj - rejects another 1300k and 1500k signon
My main mechanic Ant Skillton (4star) refuses to recontract this time and leaves me for Rezzato for less money than he was making with me, guess I annoyed him :)
Get a tech reset again.
Team salary comparison
Rossini - 789k and 521k , their champion Riberio retired after another championship in 2027.
Kitano - 1800k, 886k
Steinmman - 820k , 650k
Panther - 1483k , 1163k
Chariot - 1600k, 960k
Rezzato - 1056k, 952k
Windsor - 634k, 590k
Boa Esperenza - 1982k , 653k
Eastwood (just promoted) - 800k, 1100k
I end up with McDonald and Mare at 1200 and 1100 which annoyingly is 89.3% marketability. There was not one driver combination availiable with 4stars or higher that I could afford that broke the 90% for a 5 star sponsor.
Brand new unscouted drivers want 250k plus before you can see their stats.
It is true once you have a driver contracted you can walk their salary back down if you are winning races a bit but, my game seems to have turned into an arms race because of Boa Esperenza's decision to pay DeGraaf 2million a race , now Hasimoto is also pushing the 2mill mark.
With only 5 new drivers this season and only 2 in GT series, there basically is no talent that isn't already being paid top dollar.
Predator finish 5th again in their 3rd season in the WMC with 68 points, slightly up from 2026 but, again fall just short of 4th (4pts) placed Panther.
Rossini win the Drivers and Constructors for their 2nd year in a row with Riberio on 101 and Barthle on 87 going 1-2 and the team pulling in 188pts. Rossini have won 4 of the last 5 years but, their champion Riberio retires at the end of the season.
Another win, and 3 podiums about the same as 2026 , Kitano went up to 3rd and Panther dropped to 4th. Average qualifying position 10th and race result 5th.
Predator 2027 Roster -
Lead Designer - Jia Ren (4star ) 197k per month remains solid performer.
Performance Mechanic - Hermann Schuler (3.2 star maxxed, 19 pitstop/19 performance) 60k per month.
Reliability Mechanic - Ant Skilton (4 star maxxeed) , 104k per month.
#1 Driver - Harry Webb - (4star capped) . 507k , continued good form , averaging 10th in qualifying and 5th in the race with another win and 3 podiums to his name. Finished in the points in all but 1 race for the season and 4th outright.
#2 Driver - Camilla Fakkenor (3.5 star maxxedl) -387k per race struggled and finished the year in 14th down from 11th the previous season only scoring 2 points. Simply isn't good enough for WMC and belongs in APSC.
#3 Driver - Camilia Trupia - 47k per race for her 17 feedback for setup duties only , no races.
Car is rated #7 in the WMC and below average in all categories though made significant gains in some areas being 6th in engine, gearbox, brakes and much closer to the average line. Still well down on top speed.
HQ factory/design level 3, test track & telemetry , scout centre level 2, rest level 1.
Marketability sitting at 81.3% , still only 4 star sponsors , Fakkenor is at 100% , Webb at 60% drags them down enough so can't break the 5 star this is the max for this driver pairing as the team is at 100% so no further gains.
End of Season changes
Ant Skiton (mechanic) refuses a new contract and departs for Rezzato Corso. He is replaced by 4 star Ali Laekens on 80k
Fakkenor's contract is allowed to expire and she ends up with Garuda in the APSC.
Webb's contract is alllowed to expire and he ends up sadly unemployed aged 31 and peaked probably won't get another drive.
Trupias contract is allowed to expire and she remains unemployed.
3 new drivers as a result
Fran Mare (4 star, 5 star potential) age 18 , 1100k per race.
Tanya McDonald (4 star , 5 star potential) age 22 , 1200k per race
Chandra Willian (3 star, 4 star potential ) age 20, 120k per race
sadly marketability at 89.3%. desprarely need Mare to get a +10 marketing trait as McDonald is at 100% and we are still just short of 5star.
Chairman says 2028 target will be 5th (again) and pre-season testing sees us come 5th so this could be the breakthrough year.
Upgrade your scoutign centre, then more new drivers will become available at the end of the season. I always sign new drivers because well, they're lower starred + not in a job at that moment.
Thats why you have a scoutign centre. To scout new drivers. If their stats are known you also get more information during the contract negotiation. What they prefer, what they find important or not.
You can easily sign a driver on a lower wage by offering the max bonus payment (just set that on fiinishing 1st). It's quite easy and you shouldn't settle for paying more if you feel like you're overpaying. That's also why I send out 5-10 contract negotiations in one go. If one doesn't like it, someone else will. I also tend not to go for drivers in the WMC league since they already ask a lot thus I will look for unsigned drivers or drivers in APSC or ERS if they have a high potential.
Then again, If you've paid your drivers/mechanics a lot since season 1, then I can imagine it'll be difficult to keep those wages low.

I am doing everything you are doing in terms of bonus payments etc and do have tier 2 scouting facility albeit not tier 3.
Just for whatever reason we have hyper inflation in my game as I say linked I believe to the 2million salary De Graaf got a few seasons back. The average driver salary in WMC for me this season is now 1036k a race. On top of that with the drivers that have evolved no team in the WMC has 5 star sponsorship. The AI teams have all followed the lead and driven everyone's wages up a ton. In the offseason AI teams hired drivers for 1800, 1453, 1350 and 1320.
Clearly the drivers do some sort of internal price check when they decide what a their asking price will be for example Mare the 16yr old with 5 star potential asked for 800k per race in her first season and got it, I tried to hire her for 500k and got insulted last season and have had to pay her a 1000k a race this season to get her as she is by far an away the best driver of the next generation.
edit - oh and you are winning in your comp which drivers also factor in when making their decisions , Rossini in my game pay much less than the rest but they have won 4 of the last 5 world championships.
E. Lara 175 points (won every race thus far)
S. Stoutjesdijk 114 points
P. Becker 89 points
Oranje Racing 289 points
Panther Racing 101 points
Kitano 82 points
I still have atleast .5seconds lead in quali despite not having put any new parts on the car since the start of the season. Even Stoutjesdijk with the weaker car is still delighted with how strong the car is. I even doubt the AI will close the gap before the end of the year and considering I am building parts for the next year I doubt they will be doing anything next season aswell.
In other news, Velan Racing has had some strong performances this year mainly by having an old Oranje Racing driver in their team.
Another old Oranje Racing driver is leading the APSC with a quite sizeable lead. Guess I've got good taste in drivers ^^.
Most of my money spendage is on HQ development; Telemetry is 3, Simulator, Forecast, Brakes and Handling are all being upgraded to lvl 3.
In a couple of races time I shall be able to upgrade the wind tunnel to lvl 3 and then during off-season once the new chassis is being build, I'll go and upgrade the Test Track to lvl 3.
That then only leaves the Design centre and Factory to be upgraded to lvl 4 and the Theme Park that then opens up.
Got all HQ buildings to maximum aside from simulator, test track, factory and design. Will do simulator en test track during next season and I'll try to spend money on factory and design lvl 4 then. I doubt the AI will be any challenge next season since I have created new parts.
Rossini are going to get demoted it appears sitting on 0 points with 5 races to go.
Starving for money though with the wages/sponsorship situation basically lose $800-900k per race so survive only when I get a performance bonus sponsor for 1million or higher which has been hard to hit consistently for the qualifying bonus half as the cars are all quite close in speed at the moment. Have had to shut down HQ improvement funding to keep part R&D going at pace.
Did get McDonald the championship leader to resign on a long term 36 month contract for 900k per race down from 1200k which has helped as well as trimming off all her race/quali bonuses that were used to lure to hire her as those were crippling as well. Mare though won't renegotiate and now sees McDonald as a rival so can't fix her contract for now.
Annoyingly McDonald who is only 23 and has a full star of potential left is not improving at all either that bug or the game 'feature' where drivers stop learning even though the tooltip says they are still improving.
2028 saw big changes with a tech reset forcing all teams back to the drawing board for R&D. Chairmans goal was 5th and was easily met.
Predator finish 1st taking out the championship in their 4th season in the WMC with 199 points, 133 more than in 2027 with a dominant season winning 11 of the 14 races.
Steinmann finish a distant second on 62 ahead of Panther by 1 point back on 61. Rossini who had been pointless after 10 races score a few vital points and avoid the disaster of relegation with Rezzato Corsa going down.
Predator 2028 Roster -
Lead Designer - Jia Ren (4star ) 183k per month remains solid performer.
Performance Mechanic - Hermann Schuler (3.2 star maxxed, 19 pitstop/19 performance) 55k per month.
Reliability Mechanic - Ali Laekens (3.5 star maxxeed, 20 reliability, 15pitstop) ,84k per month.
#1 Driver - Fran Mare - (4.2 star, 5 star potential , age 19) -1027k per race. 9 podiums and 5 wins finishing 2nd overall with 93 points for the season 13 behind the winner. Voted GMA Driver of the Season.
#2 Driver - Tanya McDonald (4.2 star, 4.8 star potential , age 24) -954k per race. 10 podiums , 6 wins and World Champion.
#3 Driver - Chandra Wilian - (3 star, 4 star potential, age 21) 130k per race for her 17 feedback for setup duties only , no races.
Car is rated #3 in the WMC due to challenges with engine development where we are rated last (all parts blocked due to risk during season) but #1 in HSC, MSC, LSC, Brakes and #2 in Gearbox.
HQ factory/design level 3, test track & telemetry , scout centre level 2, rest level 1. No changes made during season.
Marketability sitting at 89.3% , still only 4 star sponsors , McDonaldis at 100% , Mare at 68% annoyingly McDonald being champ gets the +40 marketability bonus which is entirely wasted.
End of Season changes
Nil.
Factory 4 Upgrade commenced. 42 weeks to go.
