Salery something is wrong
How come an talent driver, feel insulted of getting the same salery as the top drivers in the World Cup?
If you uneployed, no team wants you you want to work, to get notice.
And yes a 19 year old could think he/she is worth the same money as a star.
But probably is the salery set to low in the top league.
Or the salery expectation set to high on uneployed drivers.

Well yes and no, you are not wrong per se, but there's plenty of people full of themselves, even more so in the racing field (you gotta be pretty self confident to do it for a living, as for every competetive job/work), a spoiled young brat, even if he's not the best, but has be tagged as such by scouts/media/etc might always ask more than an "humble" veteran, and not just for the reason above.

I agree with OP, salary expectations should be more realistic. Also, plenty of drivers in European league ask for salaries (like 1M per race) that very hard to maintain for such low tier league.

If a driver in teh ERS wants 1m a race, fire him/her. I wont pay that even in the WMC. 750k is my limit. Some drivers are greedy, some are not. Pay attention for traits like "mercenary" which increases wages demands.

As for the AI teams paying that much for wages, just ignore it. It has no bearing on your own contracts. The AI teams just pay extremely high wages.

Salaries aren´t well implemented, I faced the same when wanting to keep my 17 year old reserve driver, he want wanted his wages trippled ..... off you go. Now he is sweeping for money because he sure as heck aint racing.

It seems to be a young game and there are a lot of things which could have been better implemented when it comes to wages, status of the driver, age etc.

And how long they have been unemployed.
What fotball club would contract a player who have not even benched for several seasons;)

I agree with this. I'm near the end of my 3rd season with ZRT and I wanted to retain Valdes since he' shaping up nicely, but he felt insulted when I offered him a 50% raise.

He was making 422k a race, I offered ~622k and he turned me down. So I'm losing him and I'm pretty pissed.

I like it. I don't want robots for drivers.

Valdes from ZRT? Drop him like a hot brick, and get a better driver. Check the older drivers, as there are a few "rookies" in the 28 age range with good stats who will sign for ERS teams.

He got hired twice during the off season and decided to blow his car out during the first race of the next season, it was pretty good.

I promoted Dembele to 1st driver while my new driver Miia Lahtinen learns the ropes; she's terrible at braking but has pretty good potential. Also she's a pay driver, which is nice.

The only problems I've had with salary is unemployed drivers/designers etc. wanting too much. Though I haven't done too badly with either. Got Dauletev and Bukhalova from 3rd season ERS through 3 seasons of APS, then replaced Dauletev with De Graff after two seasons of WMC. Not quite as quick as the Steinmann car but if their drivers insist on using the slowest tyres during a race...

Found an unintentional salary effect that could be exploited, If you are planning to sign or resign a driver, wait for them to get injured. Since salary is largely based on their present star level, if they get hurt or some similar temporary stat dropping effect, you can jump on trying to sign them at that point and save a ton of money.

Thats a classic from fotball managment games;)
I think the whole salery system needs a rework.
Plus when signing them they should either counter offer, instead of smily, if scouted you should get an estimated salery that they want.

The ability to renegotiate contracts should also be an option, I think - especially in relation to performance vs teammate? For example after I replaced Dauletev with De Graaf, I would have liked to have renegotiated the contract with my other driver (Bukhalova) since she's no-where near as good, (+1.2s/lap) (though better than Daulatev, especially for WMC).
