Downforce?
IF I put High Downforce mean more Speed(good idea for straight track) but if I put Low downforce meaning less speed(if was more curve track then that could idea!)?

Is that correct?

i don't even know if the car settings make any difference whatsoever outside of the little knowledge mini game, i doubt they do, the more i play this the more everything just feel fixed, my cruddy reserve driver went to another team as main driver and magically went from total crud for me to not so bad for them

to answer your question, high DF = less straightline speed and more grip around corners, donwforce pushes you into the ground

No track wants less than neutral downforce. So you're always gonna go up on downforce in your settings, it just varies how much from track to track.

High downforce means more cornering grip, but lower top speeds
Low downforce means less cornering grip, but higher top speeds

Thanks everyone and I will learn from that. At the moment, I have rubbish car as going take time to building better in say 3 season to take them to top 3 :-)

Each track will have a set position that is the sweet spot (I think it even changes each time you are on the same track, although will be in roughly the same position). All that matters is you read what the description of the track is and which parts will be used heavily (a track with high acceleration will likely have lower gear ratios, high suspension means lots of medium speed etc) Use that to make a rough estimate of where things will be and then look for the driver feedback as they are testing to work out what needs to be changed.

Also what you can do if you are unsure of how much to change is change it different amounts for each drive and see who gets the best smiley face.

Lastly testing isn't the last time you can adjust, before the race you can flip between the results and have a final guess at any minor adjustments by comparing the smily faces of the 2 drivers over various setups (It seems both drivers will prefer ideal or certainly very similar setups on the same track.)
