Post-Ascension. No so much. In a sense there really is one role now, DPS. All classes are capable of DPS, just that some do more and/or easier to manage.
It's not that they removed it from the game... it's just how most of us play. Where we used to have a tank, support and 3x DPS... now we usually just have one ALC and 4 DPS. Everyone does DPS or buffs other DPS.
Where the 'roles' are most important now is the kind of special abilities they give you in divine form as well as the 'ultimates'.
Neither are the classes 'balanced' to the point that all the 'DPS' are valued the same.

There really isn't a healer class but you should probably go with the Lightbinder. Eventually, you'll want to unlock ALL classes regardless but the LB is easier to integrate into groups. So don't worry too much about it, all classes can DPS and that's what usually works best.
