Hellblade 2 concern...
Trailer looked great and it had all the great cinematic value I'd hoped for, great to hear the furies again and the ending shows that they're still packing in the powerful emotional storytelling the first game brought so well...

BUT... after it was over I had one concern... she had followers. A tribe, an army, no idea what, but other people. The first game was so amazing because you never knew what, if anything, was real (because she no longer had the capacity to see the world as we would). Was the entirety of the games events solely taking place in her head... perhaps she was slaughtering innocent people defending themselves while she saw them as vikings or monsters... merging reality with myth through the filter of her mental state was such a great concept

But now we have companions... has her psychosis expanded so far beyond herself that she imagines entire support forces for her fantasy? Or in chasing spectacle have the developers said this is now an actual world of real giants and monsters as real as any other human being.

Don't get me wrong I loved what I saw and I'm super excited.. just hope the developers continue with what made the first game so amazingly fascinating and haven't abandoned it for the sake of making the game 'more epic' and fantastical... I just hope it's well explained and reasoned with room for interpretation.

Last info ive got (summer 2021) was, that the game isnt even in development. They still construct the art and story of the game. So everything we saw in the trailer, could, or could not be in the game.

The followers are in her head, calling it now, that's why they "see" the monster

Or it's someone retelling the story as Senua told it, not realizing that what she told was objectively not true.

or its some poor disfigured man who has been shunned by society and lives a lonely life in a cave and senua has convinced the locals that hes a hideous demonic monster, and mobs being what they are, theyve now gone to help senua murder a helpless man with some unpleasant deformities.

Hellblade is one of the best games I played so far, because of the unique shizophrenia style, the always whispering voices, the mental conflicts with her past, her lover, the ghosts in her head. And even the great swordfights did not really disturb this lonely fealing going through hell to reach ... some goal. Technically, I loved it to have no HUD, no leveling up, no other weapons than your sword. The game sucked you into this world quite well.

The trailers of part 2 look technically good, but I also fear that this unique feeling of the first part might get lost. Then Iit would only be "another AAA title" the might please but not realy fascinate. So keep finger's crossed, that Ninja Theory can keep at least some similar feeling when playing this looks-like-a-masterpiece . :cozykcdaxe:

I mean, to be fair, those companions were dropping like flies. Maybe they all die and leave her alone.
My theory is that what senua sees isn't what the others see. The giant that she sees is likely something else completely
