Is this game really just a walking simulator?
I have seen some gameplay footage and it just looks boring, heard the story was good but is it really worth it?

It is up to you.

There are no múltiple endings or customization, there is only one type of collectible.

I would say that if you dont feel comfortable with walking simulators or artsy games you should skip the game.

There are people who literally purchased this expecting a tomb raider game. And obviously they were disappointed.

You also get some boring rune matching puzzles and boring fights. Honestly any BAFTA winner games should be avoided like plague, they want to be all artsy and forget that you should actually include some game too.

I notice people tend to use "walking simulator" in this game but for what it is worth, there is some combat and puzzle solving. I liken it more to a point and click adventure game that plays like a movie. This is extremely story focused of a game.

To be fair, BAFTA is an art awards show...

Exactly, good hint that you should never expect any actual gameplay.

Wouldn't necessarily be mutually exclusive if you got the right judges; I've got no idea what's the composition of the BAFTA panel though.

Except it does have gameplay. A lot of it.

Walking isn't gameplay

Technically, EVERYTHING where you make an input and something happens on screen is GAMEPLAY.
You may not like the gameplay but its still gameplay.

If you appreciate great visuals, dialogue and especially sound design, you will enjoy it. It is somewhat simple pick up and play, and the puzzles a little repetitive, but it is enthralling if you want a cinematic experience. I have grown older and more casual, but appreciative of immersive, story-driven games like this, so i thought it was great.

Puzzles are. Fighting is.

Sadly both are pretty primitive and boring and more of a annoyance then fun.
If I would have made this game I would have cut the fighting completely and concentrated more on creepy stuff you can come up with related to Hell. According to any mythology your not gone be doing much fighting in Hell anyway.
As for puzzles you can find better puzzles in $2 hidden object games then this one.
A+ for effort of creating the atmospheric environment and sound stage and motion-captured character model but puzzles and fights here are really more of a hindrance to story then enhancements.

sound, visuals and story are all top notch
definitely raising the bar for the next gen of games

controls are good
but the fighting and puzzles could be alot better

good value for a game on sale at $15
as a ton of work went into it

this game is not for everyone, if you like alot of action go somewhere else
if you like a good story with a game, this is a good choice

if you have a vr headset, may i suggest playing the vr version. there are moments that hit hard on a flat screen that become overwhelmingly visceral in vr. I was completely engrossed in the story.

For what it's worth, while I did find the puzzles rudimentary, I found the combat satisfying and engaging, but I also had it on the hardest difficulty so that making mistakes actually caused problems.

I highly recommend picking the game up. Play it in the dark, headphones on, and get engrossed.
