Perfect parry counter-attack one-shots sword warrior enemies on Hard difficulty
So, I played this on Hard today and was surprised about how easy Sea of Corpses battle was when doing parries and mostly using heavy attack variations. Warrior enemies go down with one heavy counter-attack (didn't do the spin riposte even once), and other enemies take great damage from heavy counter-attacks too. So this part as well as subsequent ones are easy if Senua doesn't take damage. Her HP seems to be reduced on Hard and she will go down in a couple of hits. I had to save Focus for when I'm downed to recover faster.

I like this balance, it rewards combat knowledge.

good point.

I'd like a mode that doesn't allow Senua to recover after being knocked down, or maybe she's allowed to get up only once per battle, would have been more challenging

I assume you mean charging Gramr keeping the heavy attack button pressed, well, it's just that Gramr when charged hits like a truck no matter the move you choose.

Parries automatically charge Gramr, no need to hold down heavy attack that way. Charging Gramr can easily get you killed.

Yup, but just parrying throughout half of the game can easily get you bored, plus, charging it rewards you with semi-auto dodge and auto counter-attack while you can still hit like a truck with just normal attacks. It takes a little of time so it's risky, but it also rewards you with nice opportunities, definitely is up to each one's choice.

Love how she doesn't have aone particular signature style of fighting with the sword. You can choose for her. When I started playing and had got used to what button did what. I swapped Mouse Two with Alt, making it easier for her to parry than attacking heavily. I had rolling in circles around either single or multiple foes while slashing at them using the light and fast attack. PArtically with the sheild-bearer who was the most difficult fpor obvious reasons. Although it's easy to notice how wide he and the two-handed axe wielding dude left temselves open after they atacked. Thtis as best time for attacking. I wasn't alwsy good with parrying at the reight momnet. The rolevading in circles and while shshing became habit of mine for good while.

Never knew the special sword would charge it self to full when keeping the heavy attack button down. Somebody just commented to me in another discussion that was the best way to take down the over-sized wolf-beast. Hitting the thing heavily while using Focus.

As I said. there is more thna one figghting style for her to choose from.

Evasive, light attacks, until they are left wide enough to attack heavily and or use Focus in Front on fashion.

Martial-Artist Attacks and again on the Sheild-Bearer. I found that Kicking breaks his defence enough to attack him like anybody else. Kicking works best on him to drop his guard. This best for attacking them in a more brutal front on fashion.

Charging at them. W (For moving Forward) with the Shift Key (Sprinting.) No matter which one they are will alwsy work as well if fast enough. Until I had mastered this one. I would sometime panic and have her skipping back. Not sure if this was a bug or that I might have brush my finger against the Space-Bar (Evasion.)

Pugilst Attacks. She will most often plant one on them if using unarmed attacked while Focused.
