This game disturbed me, a child of the internet, that has a thick skin and has seen countless things that cannot be unseen. I advise strong caution because while I can't think of the nude scene, and I haven't seen anything sexual, or any swearing, there are very mature tones that focus a lot on the vulnerability and helplessness of the main character, which is a super realistic, actress-recorded, highly emotive character. I would say this game is very heavy handed with mature tones, but not in the normal video game disemboweling, blood-splattering, or swearing categories.
I think most mature adults can handle this game, though, but to each their own of course. It is definitely adult-themed as far as mature tones go. But like Leng Spider said, nothing graphically sexual or gory. This is more art, I would say, a visualized novel where even the violent and mature tones are necessary for the story, and not gratuitous.
People always have the choice to quit playing if it's too intense, though.
Thanks for the help, guys.
Gore? Well there's plenty of that. Not like graphic, entrails hanging out gore, but the MC does carry a severed head around and you get to see plenty of other mutilated corpses. There is a lot of nightmare fuel. I mean when the MC isn't talking to the severed head, she is talking to the voices in her head. Or ignoring them. Or telling them to be quiet.
Here's something you should also know if you're planning to offer it to your father, PEOPLE THAT DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE END OF THE GAME SHOULD NOT READ THE SPOILER :
The main character's psychosis is induced by her father and at some point in the game the player realises the "darkness" voice that keeps harassing her is her father's voice.
Knowing all of it... you make your choice... but i really suggest you watch a playthrough of it before or play it yourself, because it is NOT a game for fun, it is a terrifying journey through nightmares, self destruction, guilt, remorse...
I was wondering about that, seeing as how I'm not finished with it and everything that I had heard ahead of time, etc, etc.
Unsubbing from this thread so I don't spoil anything for myself.
I am into 1st person shooters big time , and Tomb Raider and Rise Of The Tomb Raider , and Deus EX Human Revolution and Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Dishonored and Dishonored 2 , AND I LOVE this game , there are some serious combat sections and puzzle solving . A big Thumbs Up from me .
Before I purchased this game I watched the 25 minute commentary on how the game was made , even though they said not to , I earn a whole lot of respect for people that suffer from Psychosis , I actually watched the commentary on YouTube 3 times before I even played 1 second of the game , even if you do not purchase the game you should watch the 25 minute video , to me it was time well spent .
