As someone who is mentally ill, what's your experience(so far)?

Hi all, I was curious about this so I thought I'd ask.

Please be respectful. This question is directed towards those of us who have mental health problems, i.e GAD, PD, Dysthemic depression & major depression, scizophrenia, those who have experiences psychosis and etc.

What does the game make you feel? Is it familiar in any way?

For me personally the voices REALLY confuse me, and has made me die several times already. Sometimes they are encouraging and sometimes they are not, and sometimes they are right and other times not. Even though I am not schizophrenic they remind me a lot of all the unconcious things we say to ourselves in our head. And having ADD the voices are like an added stress when I try to solve puzzles or do things. Also her psychosis is very relatable. Also, even tho it isn't relevant to this; I like the enviroment and puzzles because they remind me of playing in the nature as a child(Norway), I also remember the rune language.

Also a thing I just wanted to add as a thanks to the developers is for making the main character just a woman, with faults, imperfections, and so forth. A woman that feels real, a woman that is so real I can imagine her being a real person. It's cool to play a game where the character isn't designed to please guys.

While its true some people have psychosis and such due to drugs, I however do not and its something I just have.

i was not sayng that, i was empthising it's something "they say". i have psychosis and smoke but i've heard voices since i was about eight (before i smoked) mainly negative, but i use is as fuel for the fire as your only as weak as you believe you are. ive had to battle audio and visual hallucinations, some of it was disabling.

This post is exactly the reason I'm even afraid of trying this game.
I don't have schizophrenia or any other metal illness , but I kind of have a phobia of developing one day , it may be silly for some people but it kind of frighten me.

Played a bit, I just take breaks. Some scenes take me back but with suprisingly positive effects. It reminds me of very familiar hard times and I know I can get trough it and endure it. For me it is a new way to process my past experiences.

I don't have psychosis but I have chronic depression and at random times I do find myself in my thoughts a lot when I have been playing this game, so therefore I try and limit my play sessions. I was curious if there was a brave soul that did have psychosis gave this a shot and what their impression was so far.

I'm gonna give it a try soon, I'll see how it is. But I have dealt with my mental health issues for over 10 years, I'm used to a lot, still I'll see what the experience is like.

I suffer from depression. I haven't really experienced anything like in this game though thank god.

just want to add the effects they have done for psychosis heavily relly on audio you dont get the true effect unless you play it with headphones since that does make it feel like its in your head if your a bit unsure about it i recommend using speakers and if you feel can manage switch to headphones the puzzles can get a bit annoying but apart from that its a incredibly good game its bit freaky when you get to the more difficult combat and end up rellying on the voices for combat ques find i get to focused on a single guy and just hear "behind you!" and immediatly dodge without thinking

What I've played so far the voices are well done. True paranoia and delusions of reference are hard to create in a game I guess. You can't punish your own thoughts in a game. The real thing is such a battle in the mind and the struggle to discover reality with a broken mind is such an impossibility. But I still have to complete the game maybe I spoke too soon.
