Suggestions and Issues
So I picked this game back up after taking a break off of most of my gaming on steam (besides playing super casual games) and was reminded of how difficult it was. I mean, Life is Hard, it's in the name and all. I was also very very glad to see how things had progressed! The new artwork and narrative is really nice! Thumbs up to those birds in the cutscene who can't seem to fly well. I know you're doing your best.

But, I also remembered how flipping DIFFICULT the game is. Progression is steady, having its ups and downs. Now to keep in mind, my playstyle is more or less casual. I like the idea of settlement/colony management games like this, where it's hands on. It's very fun! But my issue was an issue that many other casual players had: it got too hard too fast to keep up with. I did happen to see things of how to win the game - which was basically hardcore speedrunner playthrough the game. That's not enjoyable and I have a feeling that wasn't the intended way to play the game.

So on to the important stuff; Suggestions for changes and/or additions to the game to make it better for casual players like myself!

1. Difficulty levels - Ok so I know this was most likely suggested before, but I do think this game should have a choice in level of difficulty, which mostly affects how fast the game gets difficult more than the actual mechanics itself. For example, an easy mode where it takes around an in-game year or so for real threats to start coming for your people, and this would be a mode better for more casual people who want the gameplay of settlement management as well as a survival game. A normal mode, where it's more or less the same as it is, and maybe a hard mode for those insane people who are really crazy good at destroying enemies before they get a chance to eat breakfast.

2. Changing the way in which enemies attack/confront your people - The nords are the main issue here. They come every now and then to collect tribute, or else they kill you in giant swarms. I feel like the tribute prices escalate too fast to keep up with; maybe just lowering the amount it raises by every time? Small intervals - changes by 2-3 more of a mat each time.

3. New Gamemode that focuses more on colony management than the main story line - I'd love to play a basically endless mode of this game. Managing my settlement, caring for my people, maintaining relations and not having to worry about the main storyline, maybe even on a new map. This is more of a suggestion for expanding the possible audiences of this game, as there's not enough games in this style for multi-platform playing! There are lots of games like this, the issue is most aren't accesible if you don't have a Windows computer, which I feel is unfair, but that's just how it is.

I may add more to this later, but please feel free to elaborate, contribute, or ask me about this. I really wanna see this amazing game bloom into something really big. It's on the cusp of it, I just know it!

Hi! Thank you for your suggestions.

I've added the difficulty levels: picture [media.discordapp.net]
I'm not sure it'll be enough to make the learning curve smoother though. Some time has passed since you posted this, but do you have any more suggestions about the game? I'll be glad to hear them.

I don't see the options in game - are they yet to be added or am I just missing it in the settings?
