biggest are the manila galleon and the 1st rate ship of the line. You won't find them in any specific place. Random rich or very rich ports. They won't be available in most places unless you have high rank and renoun in a faction. Your best bet is to try capturing one

All ships ships are listed in the guide. I would suggest your enjoyment of the game would be enhanced if you took the time to find it and read it.

And turn off your caps lock. It's rude.

If you're looking to buy them then getting your merchant rank maxed at chairman I think is necessary for the manilla galleon. Even though it's Spain's biggest fighting ship, I'm pretty sure all galleons count as trading ships.

Real pirates don't buy ships. Real pirates steal ships.

And real pirates do not go for the biggest ships out there. That requires too many crew, which is expensive and . Real pirates use small to mid sized ships for convoy raiding.

I like to use a pair of 4th rate frigates with their armament maxed out. Couple this with the traits and ship improvements that increase speed, and you have a pair of ships that can outgun any convoy and outrun the big galleons and ships of the line.

A manila has a hold of 150 units, which can be increased to 225 using a ship upgrade. But it is expensive to maintain, requiring a crew of over 600. Even if you do not use full crew, it still has a pretty stiff maintenance fee.

A better trade choice would be a carrack, which has a hold of 120 units (expandable to 180 with ship upgrade) and which only requires a crew of 110. Much cheaper to maintain, much easier to capture, and initial cost, if one is inclined to purchase one's ships, is less than half that of a manila.

A trade convoy of 5 carracks with upgraded cargo holds plus a 4th rate escort will carry almost 1000 units. That is a lot of tobacco.

Here's a link to the guide. Lots of ship info inside.

Still waiting on a new PC im busting to play the game but know its worth waiting to avoid the bugs caused by low end machines. Clovis your continued experienced and thoughtful input into the games forums with the links is appreciated by me at least. :spacehamster:
