Overall, English voices changes personalities too much, gives too different feeling of char's maturity and emotions. And Monokuma changed to sound like an irritating cartoon boy instead of original scary cuteness with gender ambiguity (not so big deal for 2nd game though, yeah).
Actually I dislike how any DUB affects original personalities of any ...emmm media narration, and prefer to hear original voice acting with subs.
I like to play games with original dubs so english was a nono to begin with.. especially since the "horrible" dubs (as in unfitting for the characters) in games like neptune.. urg..
I do enjoy eng dubs animes from time to time though.. i like the funimation casts.. at least in the animes i bought.. there are some bad ones aswell ofc.. - jp dub is mostly better anyway
for me i like the game in there native language. like japanesse game then play itu with japanesse voice, and western game do english voice.
i just thinking when game/ movie got dub i feel that the emotion would be deferent from original.
you know like when the original want to show sad and when dub the sound not showing sad, etc.
so for me i prefer do original voice even someone say the dub version better.
just opinion of mine for enjoying game or movie though.
Nagitou doesn't sound like Naegi despite having the same voice actor in English which ruins a huge chunk of the story.
And there's no hanakana in the English and the best role in the game suffers as a result.
Japanese voiced Hajime and Nagito sounded like women sometimes; Nagito, less often so.
I thought English Nagito and Naegi sounded similar.
I got the same impression of Monokuma between the two languages. Though in Japanese, he sounded like a small boy with a cheeky attitude to me. And in English he sounded less boyish and more like a cartoon character.
Its just a thing done for the sake of messing with people.
