Game vs. Anime
I've been considering watching the Anime after I finish the game , but is it still worth it after already knowing the whole storyline?

Can somebody who played and watched both tell me the main similarities and differences please?

Thanks ^^

The story is the same, its just very barebone with everything else. Still worth watching if you just want to relive the story in a differ way :P After you beat the main game ofcourse

Anime is like short recap of game, it ~20 hrs of game in 13 ~25 minute episodes.
It worth watching some time later after playing game, to see characters and scenes again but nicely animated. It helps waiting for release of second game.

I've watched a few episodes so far of the anime after finishing up the game. It definately feels a bit rushed though. It doesn't do a very good job explaining most things and a few important events are skipped. I don't see a problem watching it after you played the game, but watching it first seems like bad idea.

Anime by itself is fun, but, that is about it.. Story and mysteries themselves are enough to entertain you throughout the entire show, but it lacks in character development (Hiro for example feels incredibly useless compared to game) and is very fast-paced and in general it feels rushed. It is still fun though. But if we are to compare game and the show, I would without a second thought give the anime a 4/10. Every death and execution is supposed to hit you hard and make you say "oh ♥♥♥♥". Anime lacks this because of its lenght. But I don't think you could do any better then this. If you were to spend with only characters that are about to get killed it would be incredibly predictable.

If you want to watch the show, go ahead. It is still a lot of fun and because ot its lenght, you can finish it in one sitting. But make sure to play the game, it is 100% better.

Personally I feel that the anime is a way to get introduced to the series. However, at the end of the day you need to play the game to get a proper understanding of the story.

The anime ruins the aspects of discovery that occurs naturally through the game. The pacing is also way off with many of the events being so rushed that the continuity of time sensitive events is completely lost. Then there's the really strange decision to still include game mechanics randomly overlayed on the screen when the point of adaptation would be to tell it through a different medium. There's also the fact that the anime just doesn't have enough time to contain all the information in this game.

I would say watching the anime first would ruin your experience of the game it is based off of and that the game is the superior experience. I watched 1 episode of the anime and was hooked but knew immediately that I would rather play the game. It's a murder mystery, there's a much bigger satisfaction if you come to the solution through your own effort.

If I were to say what part of the anime did I liked more than the game, its the Episode 11 showing Makoto's volcanic reaction when he was chosen as the killer and about to be executed and Episode 13 where Makoto shoots the "Ultimate Hope Bullet" towards Junko.

Other than these, I found the anime to be Danganronpa in skeleton format.

And don't forget, we will still get one more Danganronpa anime this 2016 that will pretty much conclude the whole "Hope's Peak" story.

So I recommend to finish Danganronpa 2 before watching Danganronpa anime's "season two".

Watch the anime it really is pretty good animated and the voice acting is great. One cool thing about the anime is it pays respect to the game like making the blood pink still and having the final truth bullet when makato hits a contradiction. great anime 9\10 but you would not see any backstory for the most part on characters like in free timeand playing the game made me feel more attached tot eh cahracters but for the most part its pretty solid:kyoko_DGR:

I just orederd it off on amazon i beat the game i must say i am into this show i still like to see whats diff about the show to the game i do understand how people say the games better and i am glad i did the game first
I got into the game because of the anime. The point of the anime is to be an ad for the game, and it worked. There were some elements of the anime that I liked better, like Monokuma eating honey like Winne the Pooh in the background in one episode.

the game is much better than the anime but that's to be expected. the animation is pretty good, but it's a little bit rushed compared to how slowly the game's plot develops. since it's rushed you also have a hard time seeing the characters true personalities besides Naegi of course. but being you've already played the game, I don't think it would be a bad idea to watch the anime. I saw the anime before playing the game (it wasn't available on steam yet and i did not have a PSP) and i still got really into the series from that.

I enjoyed watching the anime after I've beat the game. On its own, it's too rushed to give you a chance to make your own deductions (or maybe really understand what's going on and why some theoris are solid while others are not), but if you've played through the game, it's like a recap that lets you relieve every major moment.
Also, one thing that anime has over the game - it's much less Naegi-centric: for example, in first case Asahina remembers her cafeteria encounter on her own, while in second case it's Kirigiri who brings up extension cord as proof of Byakuya's involvement.
