2. The report card FTEs are tracked in game, just like in regular mode.
3. Yes, the skills carry over, as long as you use the same save file.
4. The presents and coin total carry over also, again - as long as you use the same save file.
5. The way I got the 999 achievement is replaying longer class trials (but not Trial 6).
The key is using the exact same save file EVERY time after you finish your first play through of the regular game. If I can 100% all of the achievements, you can too. There's no "creative saving", just make sure you use one save file only.
As I never tried on Vita, how does using the same save file work, Does it get a "cleared" status and you can just start a "new game" from that ? Ala Persona ? or similar games with NG+ If so, that is a great help.
Also, what is FTE ? Is that somehow an abbreviation for their report cards ?
Thank's for the help, I'll assume I will find out regardless once i finish the game and go for 100% but If you could fill me in to prevent confusion that would also be great. Thanks !
The way it worked for me is that I had multiple slots for saves and used a few of them in case I really messed up in a trial, gave a wrong present in someone's FTE, or if I needed to retry a trial for the no damage achievement. If you've only been using one save file for everything, you should be fine to keep using that save file. Danganronpa isn't exactly like Persona or any other game that specifically has NG+. Once you beat all of the chapters once, the game allows you to choose to replay a chapter, go to the investigation phase, or go directly to the trial for that chapter.
You're welcome, I don't mind helping people out.
1) Play the game through once, preferably on Kind or Mean difficulty so that you get white noise since there are 2 achievements related to that.
2) During Trial 1, don't use the concentration ability so that you'll flag that achievement.
3) Spend all of your Monocoins on presents, paying only 1 MonoCoin per spin until you're up over at least a 90% possibility of repeat. You may want to go for Celeste's Report card earlier on because she'll make earning money easier.
4) After you hit around a 90-95% chance of repeat, hoard your Monocoins until you hit 999. You should have enough varied presents by now to see you through unlocking all of the report cards.
5) Play School Days once and don't bother spending tickets. Focus on just spending time with people to fill out their report cards.
6) You can now go back to your save and select "replay chapter." Do that. Most of the time you'll only need to select "replay class trial." You may want to replay all of chapter 3 if you didn't unlock the hidden scene with the "Man's Fantasy" present. And to finish up any outstanding free time events.
7) When you hit 999 Monocoins, go to the menu and spend them paying for the art, movie, and music stuff. I think there may be a separation between art and events. Anyway, you'll see that you have to spend coins to unlock them, and you should have enough to do so with about 250 coins left over.
8) After that, I spent my coins on the monomono machine, lowering the difficulty to 50% and then pulling the lever and restarting if I didn't get a new item.
9) Go play school time until you have collected everyone's underwear.
I think that should unlock everything.
I use around 13 save slot's juggling (1 after each "event" that happens per chapter, and restart at the top if I hit a new chapter. When playing through a chapter/trial again, do you revert to your progress at that point until after ? Or is it just playing that chapter with your current progress on things, and do you also go back to the main menu after finishing or do you continue on like "normal" also, I believe I just passed the event to get the "men's fantasy" event, however I don't have the item for it. Do have 180 monokuma coins currently though.
I don't recall what difficulty I am playing on my current save, but another save I have that is just at the start of the game is Mean/Mean
I got "not from concentrate" during chapter 2's trial, but took damage during both trials (the last stage with the temp messed me up a lot in chapter 2, so chapter 1 is probably the best) because I forgot to change my truth bullet to the right one. Could probably go back and get it, but i read somewhere the "you must aquit" achievment is bugged and requires a new save ?
On average, "how" long does it take to do all this, If everything is retained once you complete the game, it's just going back and completing everything, getting more stuff from chapter's etc right ?
My understanding for report card's after reading this is currently Beat game > Go back do chapter's > Do Leon > progress to leon report card retained > redo chapter 1 until complete ? Is this right or wrong ? Sorry, i may just be stupid but I have a hard time understanding stuff like this
Yes. I have 100% on all of the DR1 achieves and I can confirm that even if a report card isn't finished in the regular game, the FTEs WILL still pop up in School Mode and you won't lose your prior progress as long as you use the same save file that you have the finished game on.
I actually used a primary save file and secondary ones for back-ups.
When you replay a trial, it reverts back to the original trial even though you've beaten the game - in essence, you're playing through it again, even though you've already completed it. I know that sounds confusing, but it's because DR1 doesn't have NG+ like you'd asked about earlier. Oh - when you use your Monocoins, use one at a time so that you're not blowing through all of your coins.
I also didn't ramp up my difficulty level to Mean - I stayed on Kind and played through Trials 3 and 4 a couple times and made sure I took the least amount of damage to maximize my coin yield. You CAN switch to Mean, I was just more patient since I was in it for the long haul to get to 100%.
I can't speak to that achieve being bugged, as I was able to eventually get it with no issues, and still using my primary save.
Well, it took a little longer in my case since I didn't realize you could complete report cards in School Mode and I wasn't optimizing my School Mode playthroughs to my advantage (basically, building the helping machines/things to help clean and gather more efficiently). In total, I had 118 hours including beating the game and trial/School Mode runthroughs.
No, that's too long of a way to get everyone's FTEs complete since those can be done in your first run of School Mode. Playing through Chapter 1 over and over to get Leon, Sayaka, and Junko done to me is a waste of time since School Mode already has that option built in. Just keep in mind that before you start your School Mode play through, hit the Monomono Machine FIRST if you're light on a particular person's favorite items.
This guide and this guide were my lifesavers.
(sorry to copy your whole message, not good with the whole steam formatting thing)
So, the School mode continues from where your report card was in the main game ? That's good to know.
I just tend to use a lot of save file's, particularily because I can't in some game's I play (Fire Emblem, for example.)
I'm pretty sure my difficulty is in the middle, but I honestly' don't remember. So, going through trial's 3 and 4 can pull up my coin amount's ? I assume they stay even when going back to the trial's and you can just keep acruing coin's that way ?
I will try going back to trial 1 to see if I can get it, if not I will just use my alt save as the first chapter and trial aren't particularily long/difficult at all.
I have no idea how to optomize school mode, but I assume I will figure it out with the help of the available guides and what they reccommend, Since i will need to play through them a lot to get all the ending's as well.
Ok, it may be a waste of time, but I wanted to know if it worked that way, since it would help me better understand that the progress made when you replay is added to your progress afterwards, on a complete save, correct ?
when should I start grabbing the monokuma thing's, i know i need to role it 100 times for that achievment, but what is a good time to do it for ? And I assume I should try to just collect as many as I can so I have lot's for school mode and don't need to do it again from missing something ?
Ironically, that achievment guide is the one that says the ahievment is bugged, it also doesn't really help clear anything up for me as it only say's a baseline for most things. and the other school mode guide I will likely use.
Yes, absolutely it does.
The reason I chose Trials 3 and 4 is that they're both longer and have many sections to clear to maximize the coin drops. Your coin total stays the same going from when you finish the game - just make to sure to use ONLY that save after you finish the game, but maybe once you finish it save twice for one back up just in case.
Um... the base game doesn't have different endings. I think you mean the character endings in School Mode, but like I said earlier - EVERYONE'S report card needs to be 100% complete before you can get any of the School Mode endings.
You *could* do it that way, but my only point is that you don't HAVE to do the FTEs that way since the dialog for the FTEs is built into School Mode.
You can get the ball rolling on the Machine presents any time you like. Just make sure not to completely deplete yourself of coins in the process, and yes - your School Mode assumption is correct, since you can't access the Machine *within* School Mode like you can during the base game.
As to the achievement - how I got it was either during a replay of Trial 1 or Trial 2. The section that got me was the rhythm game, until I realized that you can up your concentration during that section and in the later trials it will give you unlimited bullets and infinite up time... until the increased concentration wears off, that is.
Yeah, I was reffering to school mode when talking about that part, I didn't realize you needed everyone's report card's done, but still. some of the point stand's.
I know what you meant, like I said, just needed a clearer picture for myself. I am currently doing slot machine 1 coin each, started at 184 coins, down to 114 right now, with 57.77% chance of repeat's. I will stop as soon as either the 50 unique present's pops, or the 100 slot machine spins pops. If I get both relativly close in time, then ill go for both. Otherwise it's where I will stop.
Yeah, i didn't take damage during the first one, just messed up my combo a few time's in the first trial, besides that I missed a single spot where I thought it started me on the right truth bullet, and being the idiot I am, i didn't look at the bullet, just started shooting white noise, and shot without thinking when the right text came. Speaking of white noise, that has to be obtained 1-500 through a single go through, you can't get it by going back in chapter's, can you ?
A lot of players don't realize that they can't get the School Mode ends without 100% completion of everyone's report cards so you're not the only one who's gotten confused by that.
How long: I'm at 52 hours and mainly need to wrap up school mode (which can take quite a while) and the 500 line white noise achievement (I didn't know how difficult all of the action sequences (mostly the rhythm game) would be and chose gentle for the first game, which stripped out that feature, so I have to go back and retry several cases).
For report cards, I'd really only do 2 runs through the game and then finish the rest in school mode. Probably, it's faster to simply do 1 run and finish things up in school mode since school mode gives you lots of free time. I just wanted to play the game a second time.
I'm not aware of bugs with "you must aquit," but I got it on my first trial so I haven't looked into it.
