How does it fare compared to Terraria?
So i've stumbled upon this game quite a few times already, and always hesitated about taking it. I already enjoy Terraria and its mods, and this game look alike but with a nice 3D side.

So i wanted to know, how much are you free to wander and explore compared to the time you gotta spend doing everything else? Especially compared to Terraria where you can basically spend all of your time exploring.

Stardew has a much greater focus on managing your farm and interacting with the community. While there is a fair bit to explore, exploration is much more limited compared to Terraria. With the daily timer forcing you to get back home by 2am or suffer passing out, you'll need to consider your plans for each day.

Honestly, I'd say the games are more different than alike.

I see, thank you for the answer! I think i'll pass, the managing part being the main focus isn't really my thing.

You've already got your answer, but, there's basically zero exploration compared to terraria.

Completely different kind of game from Terraria.
While terraria has some form of 'farming' with the herbs and plants, this is one of those games mostly dedicated to farming. And while there is some primitive combat in the game it's not anything exhilarating.
Plant different kinds of crops, keep them watered, find upgrades to lessen the workload (sprinklers mostly), do lots of other things while you wait for crops to grow like fishing and expanding the farm, since you have very limited energy early on.

There is a time limit to each day so you gotta have a plan on what you want to focus on. Days feel like they can go by quite fast but it's perfect in the long run.

While terraria can have a lot going on, people play Stardew for the slow chill vibes, it's more engaging than exciting.

i love terraria and i love stardew. i think you should try it but theyre super different. You can spend your time in stardew however you want. someone said its managing the farm, but you have to choose to make things that needs to be managed.

Stardew is more chill and relaxed gameplay

Yeah, Terraria is an open world sandbox game, Stardew Valley is a farm simulator. I know the trailer shows combat but that's only a few areas, and doesn't play a huge part in the game.

Not so much anymore. You can create tents now, which allow you to have a "bed" anywhere outside.

Yeah... not really a comparison I'd make.

Yes, they're both done in a Pixelated style, but beyond that, they're very different games.

If you're looking for a game with more similarities to Terraria, I'd try Starbound instead; Starbound has the collecting, crafting, exploration, and combat loop that puts it in a similar class with Terraria, although still substantially different in a lot of ways. The main thing Stardew has in common with Terraria is that they're both pixel art styles.

Edit: also Core Keeper, that may be more up your alley as well.
