Pumpkins are inedible???
I thought my game was bugged or had some mod conflict because it wouldn't let me add my gold star pumpkin into the luau soup. I looked it up on the wiki and it's apparently inedible? What? How is a pumpkin inedible? This is unsensible and my day is less happy.

It's just a winter squash. Bake it, scrape it, mash it up with butter. Salt to taste.
You can technically eat pumpkin, but it certainly needs to be prepared properly.

Eating a raw pumpkin is probably a challenge. Wouldn't know, never tried it.

But there is pumpkin pie as a cooking recipe, so you can eat it with preparation.

Would be cool if they did the Sunflower thing and also dropped edible seeds. Dried and salted pumpkin seeds makes for a great snack.

My big brother and sis did the same thing, according to them it was quite good but they got very sick. Imagine Exorcist level vomiting! :brownchicken:

I mean my comparison to eating a block of cedar was definitely from personal experience as a child, lol. it's just like, really tough/hard plant mass that you sort of scrape scrape scrape with your teeth to 'eat' it

Yes, you can eat pumpkins, and you can eat almost all parts of the pumpkin, including the flesh, seeds, and skin, depending on the variety:

Flesh
Pumpkins are a good source of vitamins A and C, iron, and riboflavin. You can eat pumpkin raw in salads and smoothies, or cook it in a variety of ways, such as boiling, steaming, pressure cooking, microwaving, or oven-baking.

Seeds
Pumpkin seeds can be rich in potassium and protein, and you can eat them toasted or baked.

Skin
The skin of smaller varieties, like onion squash, is edible, but the skin of larger varieties may be too tough. For butternut squash, whether you eat the skin is a matter of personal taste.

Jack-o'-lanterns
You can eat pumpkins that are used for jack-o'-lanterns as long as they are in good condition and haven't been carved. However, jack-o'-lanterns are usually larger and have stringier pulp and more watery flesh.

Sugar or pie pumpkins
These smaller pumpkins are usually sweeter, less stringy, and have a deeper, richer color. You can eat an entire sugar pie pumpkin, aside from the stem.

You should wash pumpkins thoroughly before eating to remove any surface dirt or bacteria.

It really depends on which type of pumpkin you want to eat though. Some squashes can even be made into stews. Again, pumpkin type is really if it is edible. In this game i think they use the traditional jack o latern type pumpkins which are not very edible though.

Are you a real person or a LLM AI? You're not gonna eat a raw pumpkin unless you're like a porcupine or hippo or something. The anomaly is that there isn't a plain cooked pumpkin recipe, but there are three pumpkin recipes in the game. You can eat the pumpkin, but just like a normal person would, not Jaws from the Spy who Loved Me.
Different varieties of pumpkins exist; the ones most commonly used for carving faces on, are not tasty - these are also the ones used in game as they can also be used to make lanterns.
