Fiddlehead Fern you can catch at Secret Woods on Summer or if a normal tree transforms int o a giant Fiddlehead Fern during the Green Ray, then you cut it down. Tilapia is a sea fish and appears at Summer or in Ginger Island salt water.

Or you can luck with the traveling merchant.

I don't know about tilapia, but you can get the fiddlehead fern by chopping those funky green trees on Green Rain Day.

You can catch Tilapia at the beach in the summer and fall from 6am to 2pm or use magic bait outside those times. They can also be found year round on ginger island in northern and western freshwater areas.

you can buy fish from the sewers (requires 60 items donated to the museum) on wednesdays, there's a chance the fish of the week will be tilapia. or you can check the travelling merchant every friday and sunday. otherwise, sea fishing on summer and fall.

as for fiddlehead fern, get a steel axe before summer ends to visit secret woods and hope one spawns there, get lucky with travelling merchant, OR plant a mossy seed, see if it looks green, uproot if not, fertilize if yes, chop it down or tap it after it's fully grown.

Summer is the only season where you can (regularly) find fiddlehead ferns
Specially on the day of the green rain, with the new fiddlehead fern mossy trees in cindersap forest if you don't already have the steel pickaxe to access the secret woods (they naturally only spawn there, and only in summer)

Otherwise, you could try to find a prehistoric floor in the skull cave, there's a chance to find fiddlehead ferns there, but that's way rarer and harder

Was added in a recent update--happens in the middle of summer, one day only.

Fiddle head also spawns in Pepper Rex prehistoric levels in the mines. But its a chance that there's none there.

I am flabberghasted by these people recommending Ginger Island.

The guy needs the Community Center to get access to get to Ginger Island, and he needs the Fern to get the community center done.

It's a cycle you cant complete. To get fern you need GI, and to get to GI you need fern..... rinse and repeat infinitely.

Tilapia can be found fishing in the beach or on ginger island, but since you need this for the community center, probably not gonna take the ginger island route.

In summer or fall, go to the beach anytime before 2pm (Appears 6am – 2pm), preferably right after watering crops if you don't have sprinklers everywhere yet. Just fish until either you get it or it hits 2pm.

Just heads up if waiting on the green rain event, if your axe is being upgraded and the event rolls around you're screwed because you need to chop down the curly vine like trees to get the fern, so if you are going to upgrade your axe in summer make sure you craft a fair few bombs to bomb the trees if you end up axeless.
