New Tool/Function of existing tool for clearing out LIVE crops.
Hello, name's Nick and I ADORE this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. So first of all thank you to the developers for making this game and keeping up support for it. Now, I have a suggestion that I'd like to make. You can remove dead crops in this game rather quickly with the scythe. When it comes to alive crops however, the best way I have found (enlighten me in case I am wrong) is to pick them off 1 by 1 with the pickaxe. My proposition/question is, would it be possible for the developers to create a new tool, or add a new function to an existing tool so we can get rid of alive crops with consistency and speed, much like we do with dead crops? This can pose quite a bit of a problem when for example, you wanna get the 2 max harvests of pumpkin in the fall, but you've used the cheapest summer crop (wheat) on your farm so your soil doesn't get untilled. Problem is, wheat also grows in the fall, so that means you would need to either wait for the wheat to fully mature, harvest it and then plant the pumpkin (which would lock you out of the second harvest of pumpkin unless you used fertilizer) or try and pick out all the wheat one by one and then plant the pumpkin, which is especially difficult when you have large fields (about 750 slots for me). So, that's why I propose this. Thanks in advance, cheers!

I could imagine the scythe getting a function like that where it ignores nearby crops when harvesting wheat but if swung otherwise it could remove crops that are past the seed stage.

I don't see it happening though.

Wait, I've always harvested by approaching and clicking on the harvestable plant with an empty slot (no tool, no item) and it harvests the crop with a popping noise. You can do this and run your curser over several plants at once, making them all pop off while your animation is only on one plant, letting you harvest even faster.

OP is wanting to destroy multi season crops that are preventing them from being able to plant stuff more efficiently than pickaxing each one individually.

Yeah this literally has nothing to do with what I said, and I do think I worded my "concern" rather eloquently.

See I think the scythe could be kinda risky getting another function like this, so maybe there's some other way to go about this. Or it could work if we had some sort of prompt for the "mode" of the scythe, as in "Normal" mode that does exactly what it does now, wheat, weeds and ignores other crops and then a second "Village Razer" mode that would take care of live crops. That way we wouldn't have to worry about a scythe misfire. And I mean, yeah it's possible it won't happen (just wanted to bring this to the devs' attention) but it's always nice to hope :P

Check out the discord, OP. There's a huge modding community and someone may be interested in making your idea a reality. For what it's worth, there might already be a mod that does what you ask--have you checked Nexus?

As for the dev adding it, I think it's highly unlikely; he's very happy with the core gameplay mechanics and is most likely only adding content in the future that expands gameplay/adds more end-game stuff to do.

I mean I get your point, but wasn't "big item stacking" (Like kegs, stairs etc) added in 1.4? That IS a core gameplay mechanic, and it was updated in the latest big upgrade. I will look into the modding community though, thanks for that. It just felt right posting about this here first, where the dev can see it you know?

Use a bomb. Should clear out crops pretty quickly.

Rather "expensive" as a solution, although I guess it would work. Rather unorthodox way to do so however considering what the scythe can do, but thank you. Proposition still stands though, there should be a way for this to be done more easily without extra expenses.

Fair enough. At the pace CA works updates (amazing, content-packed, and free! updates) you're still probably better off seeing if maybe a modder will make it in the meantime.

I have to imagine many of the changes CA made to mechanics were the result of the popularity of those particular mods, so if this one took off, who knows.
