Abigail keeps saying that the house is a mess
Abigail keeps saying the house is a mess and she can't go where she wants to. But there's nothing blocking her, lol?

Sam does to mine as well. And apparently, you can't move their belongings around?

All of the wives/spouses say this.

I'm guessing it actually has nothing to do with how cluttered your house is with chests/furniture. A lot of people clear out their houses because they think it's an actual commentary on the state of the house.

I think it's just a bit of dialogue to add a flavor of "real marriage" to the whole thing. Instead of just giving you a stepford wife who is in a chipper mood and wants to kiss you and bake you pies every moment of the day, sometimes your wife isn't in a good mood, and it has nothing to do with you or what you did.

Wives will also complain about the behavior of the kids and how frustrated it made them today, but it has nothing to do with you and how you're playing.

I think maybe the house cleaning line should be removed or modified, though, because if it's just flavor text, it's really confusing a lot of people, who think they are being told to change something.

Actually, I think it's a bug. Considering I married a boy in-game (I mean since you're going all stereotypical here). So since you think they went with the whole "nagging wife" method, then I have a naggy husband and he keeps saying the house is a mess. Been saying it for 3 days and every time I speak to him. There's no other dialog.

Oh, it makes sense.
Just to say, is there any chance that she will want to divorce with me? I GIVE HER CAKES EVERY MORNING, it's my real love...

No, it doesn't make sense. My husband in game is saying the same thing over and over. It's a bug. Lol

I got that with Sam too, complaining about not being able to get where he wanted to. I had all those objects you get from Gunther lined up against the wall. I spread them out with spaces on either side of them and now Sam will go look at one every once in a while. Previously you couldn't go up to the side of most of them. Seems to stopped the messages about the house being a mess, or at least they don't come up very often any more.

As far as I have heard, this is a pathfinding issue with the NPC's. There's really nothing to think about it, as right now there isn't a fix.

It because there is an object which blocked your wife/husband walking path. I suggest a minimalistic furniture, and free the center of the room.
And I hope CA make a better walking path for these NPC.

Abby did this to me the moment I moved a chicken statue so I could put another chest down. But then I think she just bugged out as she stood at the doorway and wouldn't move and blocked me in until I went to sleep.

Consider this a good experience in marriage. It seems dumb in the game because the characters parrot the same things now and again but IRL it's not far from the truth.

Some people get stuck with nagging partners. It's actually a big problem for marriages for a lot of people.

Sorry didn't mean to depress everyone. :P

Elliott never said that to me. Neither did Sebastian. Not once in a few years of marriage.
Darkwood May 9, 2016 @ 10:27am
Penny never said that to me, either. But then I have all my stuff on the side and nothing in the middle of the room. Maybe that does matter.
SilentCaay May 9, 2016 @ 3:43pm
Penny has never nagged me about anything. Maybe you guys are just terrible spouses. ;P
TPranara May 9, 2016 @ 4:41pm
If something is in the way of their normal (default) route to enter and exit the house, or to get from one room to another, or get to and from the bed, they will say that the house is messy, this includes you, if you block access to any of the above with your avatar. It's not about how tidy things are, but default paths of access. Marriage partners each have a set pattern of paths and they strongly dislike that path being altered. They don't tend to go around obsticals. If there was a speech bubble with a picture of the offending piece of funature, that would make things much easier.
