How does "Tracker" perk work?
It says "Locations of forageable items are revealed", but how does it reveal them? Shows on the map?

Would love ot know this too. Should just take the Botanist perk, as after you play for a bit you know where all the forage spots are...

The way the tracker perks works, is that is shows an "arrow" around the edge of your map pointing you towards the foragable item. It's rather handy :tabbycat:

Intriguing... But getting all gold on forage is rather nice...

It's really a personal preference thing :P

I've been wondering about this too, and I'm leaning towards Tracker.

Way I see it: what's the point of gold on items you can't find?

Then again, I'm more interested in said items for the sake of cooking n' crafting, and less concerned about money.

Uuh... I can't see the arrow?

They're tiny little yellow arrows on the edge of the screen.

Here's a screenshot with an arrow to the north, west and south:

Thanks!

You will have plenty of money late in the game.

I recommend picking the perk that helped with gameplay itself rather than going for a little extra cash.

I prefer botanist because any pickup items with variable quality will be gold star, including quartz in the mines. It saves a lot on inventory space, which is a pretty tangible benefit. The tracker arrows are barely useful at all by the time you get to foraging 10 IMO, but it's a preference thing.

Botanist! It makes all your truffles purple quality. Well worth it. Plus, like a previous poster said, inventory space.

Thanks for this thread, I've just reached foraging 10 and was wondering how'd Tracker work... I also appreciated your considerations on both perks.. Just one thing is not yet clear, arrows will appear different zone by zone or they can also point to items in different zones too?

I gather items to craft/quests too, so I wasn't very interested on quality, indeed, I do prefer low quality ones for these 2 purposes... tho, you have a point about inventory space, and in the end I could simply keep using max quality ones even for quests/crafting, if all those I find will be that way (they'll be common, so I wouldn't have to worry about quality at all)... Cash is the last of my concerns. Will mushrooms in the cave near home also be of max quality?

I think Tracker would've been more useful if arrow would've changed color according to the type of item it is tracking... so one would just go get those required in that moment... As for me, I go around for some gathering in closer zones almost every day...

the arrows will only point in the zone where you are currently in. -trough the game sometimes spawn items out of bound-

but yeah only for example on your farm or on the road to the town.

Thanks for the clarification, I guess I'll go for the latter. :) I can't think of a place where Tracker is actually needed beside the forest south of my farm... and I usually haven't time to visit it entirely anyway.. I visit the other zones very often by myself and it's kinda hard to miss any gatherable. So this way it is not very useful for me.
