Lava Katana Gone?
So I saw that the Lava Katana was 25,000g and it was the most powerful sword you can get. I saved up and when I went to purchase it, it was not there....

I've gone in on a Friday and a Sunday to check and it isn't there. I sort of need it since its Winter tomorrow and I plan on hunting the caves all of the season.

What have I done wrong?

Nnnope.

Myabe its in another chest? You can also accidentally sell a weapon at the Adventurer's Guild.

Also its not the most powerful sword. There is another far stronger ;). But you won't be buying it from anywhere!

Check the Wiki if you want spoilers.

It should be there.. but only if you've reached floor 120 in the mines.

The equipment you can purchase depends on the level of the mine you've reached. If the Katana isn't on sale then you've not made it deep enough to unlock it.

I've got to the bottom of the mines and been to the Desert cave already, but when I realised how difficult the Desert cave was I started saving up for the Katana. (The most powerful sword I know about xD).

Skull Cavern in the Desert doesn't give huge profits until you can amass Mega-Bombs (50+) and carry stacks of 999 rocks with you to speed-run floors to level 70+, that's when the money ores (Iridium) starts showing up En-Mass on a good Lucky Day (via Fortune Teller) with a choice of one of the following: Lucky Lunch/Pumpkin Soup/Spicy in your PC's tummy.

I usually go there with 200-300 stone for infestation floors and 20 normal bombs while eating 2 spicy eels during the day and able to consistently reach floor 140 - 180 without trying to speed rush it too much

Mega-bombs might be a bit overkill imo. Serpents drop bombs as well.

I'm making Stairs currently and plan on making around 30 of them if I can. I've currently got a Templar's sword which is pretty much useless right now. I mainly want to get Iridium for my Pickaxe and Axe more than anything. I managed to get some from the regular cave but it was an extremely rare occurance.

Whoa, I am doing something wrong then, I dont think I can get to that low of a floor without getting a couple lucky drops into those holes. Is there a trick I am missing?

Dont make stairs, take the rocks with you and make stairs when you need it (such as infestation floors as @Mackenzie mentionned).

Well I do try to pick good or great luck days to go and sometimes munch on a pumpkin soup as well but I seem to get those descending holes to jump down fairly often.

I'm going to try and sell my Templar's Sword and see if I will be offered the Katana.

Zodna, jump on the elevator in the mines and go down to floor 115. Progress normally to floor 120 again. Then check the shop. Maybe something glitched and you died and 'forgot' those floors and that somehow interacts with the guild.

Oh that could be it actually....I did die in mid Autumn in the Lava area. I'll try that now!

The lava katana is definitely not the most powerful sword, the Galaxy Sword is the strongest.

It is the best weapon you can get and use in the Skull Caverns while you are in search for a prismatic shard to unlock the Galaxy Sword.
