So i just did the spirits eve festival and got the golden pumpkin and on the stardew valley wiki it says i'm supposed to sell it but i can't sell it to peirre so who do i sell it to?

I'm pretty sure you can just put it in your box at the farm.

i never understood the point of the box so i just sold everything at peirre's shop when you go to buy something it shows your inventory you can sell stuff although he wont buy certain items

To be fair my initial instinct was that Pierre and Willy would pay more and/or selling to them would provide some relationship points, so I sold all my fish and foraged goods to them for most of my first year.

Not really Pierre and Willy pay the same as shipping your items do, the only difference is you get the cash right away when you sell to them while you have to wait for the next morning if you ship them, but I've never really found myself in a situation where I needed the cash right away so it's a bit of a moot point.

I read that you have to sell things via the shipping box for it to show as done in your collections tab,so thats another reason to use the collection box I think.

Why sell it? I display it on my table during the Fall. It's a unique decoration.
