Can I place a silo anywhere on the farm or do they HAVE to be next to the coop/barn?
I've been playing SV for a while but for some reason I never ever bought a silo, so I'm on one of my new games and wanna know what I should do with the silo.

It's not mentioned in the wiki entry, but I don't think they need to be right next to the barn/coop.

You can place it anywhere as long as it's possible.

Alright, thanks for the quick replies. Kinda glad it's that easy honestly.

But choose wisly, you cant move it later, you will need to destroy and build a new one if you want it in another spot.

I put mine as far away as possible since they don't need interaction often (or really ever).

They're pretty tall so you of course need to take that into consideration, if they're blocking seeing something you want to be able to spot easier from a distance. And then of course some people want them to look pretty or more natural in the layout.

I'm not worrying about my farm being pretty in my current game though I may try a screenshot worthy one later :D

Just as a suggestion, in the upper left corner of your farm (near your grandpa's memorial shrine) is where I place mine. I usually build 4 silos in a vertical row, they fit nicely into that area and line up perfect with the cliff below. You shouldn't ever need more than 4 silos.

I like having my silo in the bottom right corner of the farm. The only time you need to interact with it is to check how much hay is in there. Also, you don't need multiple silos, because when you get hay out you just take an excessive amount out and refill your silo. Of course, you'll need a place to store it, but otherwise I haven't had any problems doing this. :)

I have mines next to the Greenhouse in front of the cave. Get two btw, cause Winter is a harsh if you have a handful of animals, you will end up buying it through Marnie.

This is where i put mine as well, it's a perfect spot and doesn't ruin the view of anything.

I put mine in the bottom left personally, but anywhere in a corner out of the way works. I would aim for two or three personally, as hay does't grow back fast and you want to stockpile a bit for wnter.

I put my silos in the bottom left (if I have a few, they go in a column, and the path runs alongside them.)

Alternatively, if your stable or well isn't right there, between the teleport shrine thingy and where your cat/dog sleeps, there's a spot for a silo there. Technically, one silo is enough, if you have a chicken coop. You can pull out all the hay, and toss it in a storage chest, then cut more grass and it'll go to the silo. I did this my first playthrough, accumulating like 600 hay.

However, keep in mind, the deluxe barns and coops don't let you "remove" hay, as its intended use it to take the hay from the dispenser and put in the trough - not a storage chest. :P
