storage option

what is a good buildig to uese for storage im thinking that there shoud be a building just for storage insted of having chests everywhere outside the farm

It depends exactly how much storage you need. I can usually keep myself down to 6-8 chests inside the house, as well as all my crafting stations. I may keep a few chests in the greenhouse for seeds and fertilizers, and a few in barns/coops for easy egg/wool stashing. Once I get a decent stockpile I refine them into mayo/cheese/cloth/oil and then sell in bulk.

I tend to use my Slime Hutch as an area for putting things like recycling machines and anything like furances, along with chests that are able to be recycled or smelted respectively. Anything that is a byproduct from those I'll also store there, too.

I usually used right outside the house where stuff can't be planted. Then a chest near the mine that i never saw any npc deleted. If I ever played a super long time I might use the mine to mass store chests since its so big and you never really see npcs that move around inside it.

For storage i use the kitchen's empty area stack boxes - fish box, veggie box, fruit box, mushroom box, artisan, minerals and metals box, clothing/misc items box. Outside i have two small areas next to the house, one on the right with bushes which you cant do much with due to the farm pick up box - and one to the left of the house. The right side has all my furnaces and recycing - plus a basic box for tools. The other side of the house has my stable, behind the stable are two boxes for seeds of all types,4 jelly/pickle makers - and a few crystylarium. Inside barns and coops are boxes to hold items for the animals - a box for the pan and hay in the cow's area etc. Green house has excess fruit and veggies in one box to make liqour, as my green house has about thirty barrels surrounding the plant area.

I'll be happy to have sheds. I don't have a crazy number of chests but I do have a few. 7 outside my house, 3 in my winery/jamery, 1 in my brewery, 3 in my bedroom, 2 in my den and my fridge in my kitchen. I may not even build a shed. The thing is, I'm using the chests so much that transitioning back and forth from a shed might be annoying. We'll see.
