Have you leveled fishing and unlocked the recycler? By recycling trash(broken glasses and CDs) you can easily get a lot of refined quartz fairly quickly.

From those two items you'll get Refined Quartz pretty much every time. And for trash, just fish in one of the lakes on your farm(as you likely won't get anything else from those anyway).

Ok thanks a bunch for the help :)

You can get broken CDs from rummaging in peoples trash too

Yeah...you can do the same levels of the mine repeatedly and find plenty of quartz to put in the furnace.

Don't know what point in the game the OP is/was in, however.

If one has lots of gold and has unlocked the Sewers, you can just buy an iridium sprinkler from Krobus, once a week (Fri), vs. going whole-hog on Quality instead.

Or you get the Crystalarium for the 25k Vault bundle (community center route), IIRC, and then you can just make more Quartz from a single initial quartz (maybe one a day?).

technically they only have a chance of spawning refined quartz

Crabpots + Recyclers = Unlimited quartz. If I collect all 45 of my crabpots I end up with about 5-6 CDs/glasses that can be recycled into quartz. I don't bother recycling any of the other trash so I just have a few recyclers dedicated to making quatrz.

Recycler is the way, collecting quartz mining is not. Mining for quartz is the poor man's way.

Help the environment, water your crops.

Basically, its a win/win

*rolls eyes*

Some people find leveling fishing boring as **** or don't want to fish for whatever other reason.
Some people want to focus on the mines/combat aspect as much as possible and therefore are just going to get a fair amount of quartz anyhow. And they might even get most of the Museum done before 1st year Summer/Autumn (I did, once), meaning rapid Sewers access, to boot.

I've never used a recycler and I've had plenty of Quality Sprinklers before Summer or before Autumn.

That's the nice thing about this game, see...there's (usually) more than one way to achieve a goal.

Mining is a lot more fun in my opinion and now I've got to the snowy floors quartz is everywhere!

I'm not saying mining isn't fun. I'm only calling quartz mining unfun and mainly due to its tiers.

i have a friend who only liked the fishing minigame aspect of the game, he basically neglected the farm and fished the entire time. As for me i did the mining and farming all the time and mostly neglected fishing.

and in the end he had more money than me at the end of the second year and was already married......

bottom line is do what you think is more fun, both mining and fishing will eventually give you craptons of quartz, the more you invest in an area the more rewards you wil get.
At some point the mines will give you crap tons of gold and quartz that you won`t even know what to do with it.
