And Don't miss a birthday, the points are more important for Bday.
Past that, the usual. Talk to them and give gifts and do bulletin board quests. Also finish the bulletin board in the Community Center for 500 points (two hearts) with just about everyone. It's really not too difficult, I usually have most if not all NPCs maxed by the end of the first year.
https://stardewcommunitywiki.com/Diamond
It's an easy solution for a lot of villagers but some loved gifts are cheaper than the diamond.
- Haley likes Daffodils, which are literally everywhere in the spring, and loves Sunflowers, which can be grown in Summer
- Shane loves Beer that is easily accessible in the Saloon, which is also his favorite hangout
- Apply same method as Shane to Pam
- Harvey loves coffee, found at the Saloon
- Sam loves Pizza which is also found at the Saloon
- Once you have goats and a cheese maker, you can easily appease Leah and Robin, who love Goat Cheese
- Get Willy to a high enough friendship level and trigger his crab-catching scene with Gus . Gus will then put crab cakes on sale with infinite stock, so stock up on those to give to Elliot.
- Plant Parsnips in Spring, and combine them with Eggs from your coop to cook Farmer's Lunches, which Marnie loves.
- Plant Poppies in Fall, and give them to Penny
- After obtaining a lightning rod, use them to obtain Batteries to give to Maru or plant Strawberries in Spring to give to her
- After Ginger Island is unlocked, use Ginger to make Ginger Ale, which Vincent loves
- George loves Leeks, which can be foraged in Spring
- Plant Pumpkins in Fall to give to Abigail
- Don't bother spinning cloth to give to Emily. She loves the raw material just as much.
- Grow Summer Spangles in Summer to give to Caroline or brew her tea.
MISC. TIPS:
- Pay attention during heart events, and avoid offending people during them.
- Talk to NPCs whenever you can. Chattiness prevents heart level decay.
- Birthdays are your best friend.
- No one doesn't love the Golden Pumpkin at the end of the maze on Spirit's Eve, Pearls, and Magic Rock Candy .
- The only one who doesn't like Rabbit's Foot is Penny. Everyone else loves them.
Hope these help!
For Liked and Loved Gifts, Quality Level provides a Friendship Bonus:
Silver: +10%
Gold: +25%
Iridium: +50%
As a result, you should definitely be giving Iridium Quality Loved gifts on Birthdays or at the Feast of the Winter Star, where those bonuses can push the relationship through the roof, but even on normal gift-giving days, strive to give High-Quality Loved gifts as often as you can, since you only get to give two gifts each non-birthday week,
Emily loves Cloth and Wool. Two gifts of Iridium-Quality Wool are worth as much as three gifts of Cloth, which doesn't have quality rating.
Next, only do a few at a time while you work on other things, once they are high enough they will never decay so you can ignore them after that. Trying to focus on all of them will feel overwhelming and you'll end up getting little done.
Also talk to them every day when you can since that gives some friendship to offset any decay.
True. I usually take a season or so to boost almost everyone to the max with daily conversation and constant gift-giving--when all is said and done, Saturday ends up being the only day I'm usually free to do much else. So it makes sense to break up who you're working on.
