Wait.. What? "It's rare, but it does happen"? Its "rare"!? How many times has it happened?
So potentially, or very most likely, Abigail and/or Jas is.. his.. daughter? I mean THE WIZARD says, there may be his daughter; Then there must be his daughter in the locals!
And you know, if you really pay a bit closer attention, Shane and Sebastian also has purple-ish hair color! Hmm..
Well heck, I'm going to tell it to the whole community!

Many other thread discussion seems to lean towards Abigail being the daughter. But hey, pay attention to him saying, "rare".

The town has no clue, but it's a well known secret in the playerbase. Abigail is the likeliest candidate due to a couple lines from her and her family (Pierre secretly suspects she might not be his daughter and has jealousy issues, Caroline used to visit the Wizard's tower, Abigail's hair used to be chestnut but she mentions that she stopped dyeing it and purple became her natural color, which adds to the already significant weirdness factor surrounding the quartz-eater) and I think it's confirmed if you're playing SVE, insofar as a mod can confirm anything.
That it could be Jas never really occurred to me, although she does have that unnatural hair color. There's just no explicit lines that would hint at this parentage, unlike those about Abigail.
Incidentally idk if you got to this point but I think the Wizard's affair, whoever it was with (Caroline), was the vaguely defined "mistake" that caused his divorce.
But hey, if Pierre ever took credit for your gold star produce you can get revenge on him by ruining his marriage.

Well... yeah, it's almost certainly Abigail.

Spend some time getting to know the people involved The Wizard, Abigail, and Caroline. All of them offer pieces of the story.

Abigail has hair color (which may or may not be dyed, she does sometimes dye her hair, but it's not clear if the purple is her natural color or not). She also has a desire to be an adventurer, fighting monsters, and engaging in various feats of daring-do. And one of the places she wanders off to is the base of the tower.

Caroline talks about how she used to go out to the tower and visit the area. She's a bit vague about it.

Caroline and Pierre don't seem to ... get along ... all that well.

The Wizard talks about how he used to be married, and how his ex-wife (the Witch) files around the countryside cursing things (because she's angry with him). So, he had an affair with someone, and she took it badly.

I'm 99% sure that Abigail specifically has a line where she mentions that she no longers dyes her hair, which implies that it had a different color (Caroline tells us it was chestnut) but it's just naturally purple now. Sadly I have no idea when she might say it and thereby how to search for it in the wiki. If someone could confirm it, I'd appreciate it.
I'm a dumbass who forgot he could search a page for keywords. The line can apparently occur when you're married to her and she's in a good mood/has high hearts. It's this:
“I can't even remember the last time I dyed my hair... I swear, it never fades from this color...”
I like Abigail as much as the next guy, but she's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weirdo. Like father like daughter?

I interpreted it as the Wizard saying him being mistaken about something is rare, rather than one of the locals being his offspring being rare.

Also, (spoiler for Jas' 10 hearts dialogue,) aren't BOTH of Jas' parents dead? Shane, being a friend of theirs, became her godfather. So I don't think the Wizard could be her father.

Lol cocky Wizard. This is my new headcanon.
No idea about Jas' parents, I don't know the dialogue you're talking about, but I always figured they were at least out of town. I thought there may have been a less morbid reason they never appear, but them being dead makes sense.

What if the daughter is that fortune teller woman that appears at town events. She's the only woman with magic powers besides the witch, but the witch is his ex-wife.

Welwick is likely as old as Rasmodius, they've known each other for a long time as far as I can remember, that's what he says during the Fair (where he also recognizes the clown, or at least thinks so).

I doubt that. During the Stardew Valley Fair, he says that he and Welwick has known each other for a long time and that she is a good friend. She also seems to be rather old.

Maybe she likes the sun. Maybe the wizard uses magic to look younger. Maybe the wizard hasn't told her about it yet.

Don't see why you'd think it's Welwick instead of Abigail though. There's a bunch of hints that point to Abigail, but I know none that would indicate Welwick. It's also unclear why the Wizard would bother to even make a secret of this to Welwick. You could come up with reasons for that, but I see none suggested in the game. Welwick is presented as the Wizard's good friend and I found no reason to doubt that, all the while Abigail's hair magically turns purple.

The Wizard also says it's a "local". Welwick doesn't live in Stardew Valley.

I had always assumed it was Abigail.

Caroline has expressed her visits with the wizard and Pierre's jealousy.
Abigail has purple hair, naturally. She used to die it chestnut.
Abigail hangs out by the Wizard's tower.
