Best heal item?
I got tired of farming iridium purple mushrooms so I am going to ask what's the second highest base food that heal in the game? Also do you need 999foodstuff to survive at the skull cavern in order to get into a level with more iridium ore than rocks?

Sashimi. Not because each item heals alot, but because it is so easy to obtain an obescene amount of it while also boosting your fishing skill effortlessly.

As for progressing Skull Cavern, your best bet is bringing in a few full stack of rocks and making stairs to get down quickly. If you don't have access to them yet, you are best off just farming the normal dungeon for ore and stone.

For energy, berries or hops.
For health, you should do fine with forage/monster drop food. Spicy eel to boost luck+speed, purple-star potato cacti restores about half your health I believe.

I like forage early in the game, but, later, I just carry a stack of melons. Gold ones give 203 energy and 91 to health.

leaving heals aside,
problem in skull caverns are TIME so something like 999 oodstuff is completly pointless
thats why as BurlsoL said:

if you howevery want to get irradium quickly, then best thing you can do is to get bulgar ring, and slay slime in skull caverns, this will ammout only to 1-3 bars per day tho

If you have tons of money, buy tons of energy tonics.
If you don't, farm melons.

During first half of spring year 1, I go with spring onions.
During second half of spring year 1, I go with Salmon berry.
During summer, I go with common mushrooms, blue mushroom or hops.
After that, I go with cheese.

Melons take a long time to grow and i dont really need energy if i was to use bomb tatic
xicewindex Dec 15, 2017 @ 11:26am
For the bomb tactic you don't need high health stuff.
The tric to it is that you place bomb and you eat, during your eating animation time stands still but bomb will go off, If you do it right you don't take damage at all.
So the cheapest food like a salmonberry is already good enuf really.

I don't need the energy either, look at the heal - 91, that nearly fills your health bar in one hit. As for growing, they may take a long time, but, if you use sprinklers, they need no attention whle growing. Even the gold watering can, if you lay them out to take advantage of the full five in a row watering the work is minimal.
I've yet to find a better option for healing , cost wise then Gold Star Cheese. If we're talking Skull Cavern (The only real cave you need serious healing in) ~ by the time you're there, ready to take on the challange, and a good luck day hits, you'll have 20+ Gold Stars if you save em up, and thats like under 20k,

Root Plater (1x Winter Root + 1x Cave Root) (At least 3 / 10 Ideal)

Coffee (30, tops) (You can snag easily 250+ Via the Winter Beach Give away whatever its called (Wiki it) (And with 1 bean you can pretty much have endless beans / coffe in a few seasons)

Cheese * Gold Star* 90 HP and cheep to sell

Spicy Eles when your Root Plater Runs out (From Killing stuff) (At least X / 5 Ideal)

Age your wine you'll be better off anyways.

Cheese all the way. It also makes for a *Gold Star* "Liked" gift for just about everyone. But so does Flowers and other cheaper options, just comes down to convenience not having to go forage those items.

I have 100 medicine that costs 1k gold each. They are more than enough for me, if u also add coffee u'll be faster.
