What are some of the best fish for the fish pond?

The easiest fish to start off with and get decent profit from is the sturgeon. You can catch it in, I believe, Spring or Summer. They're a loved gift for Willy, their eggs turn into caviar, and it's relatively easy to max out the pond by Winter.

After that, lava eel and blobfish, both of which are somewhat difficult to catch. Aged roe is tied to the sell price of the fish, and those 2 fish are very valuable. On top of that, lava eels can give useful items like magma geodes and spicy eels, and blobfish can rarely give pearls, although it takes a long time to set them up.

Void salmon and slimejack are okay, but those are late game fish.

Super Cucumbers give Iridium Ore... I had placed 6 ponds of this fish type and received at least one iridium ore daily once they had all multiplied and reached maximum fish per pond... only difficult part was the quest rewards needed to max out the ponds. Investment also of 30,000g total + stones and seaweed/algae for Robin to make 6 ponds. Not probably worth it for most people to get iridium ore this way though... for me it was more of an experiment than practical

If it's money, then Lava Eel followed by Blobfish.

What I mean by best is usefulness of stuff I'd get from the pond with whatever type of fish?
