Does lightning strike while sleeping?
I'm trying to get a bunch of batteries. I've been using my rain totems to keep it storming for 3 days so far, but wondering if the lightning will still strike while sleeping.

I do not know about while sleeping (as in going to bed early)... but i have read on the wiki that the number of lightning strikes on a given day is also affected by Luck. So I had tried some food buffs that give luck but idk if it made much difference. Not sure if the luck is for the current day or the next day (like the totems) but maybe only using totems on good luck days would be better results than using them on bad luck days? I have about 90 lightning rods arranged in a grid in the middle of my farm which usually produce about 15 to 22 batteries on a good day. (Needed this many for crystalarium farm).

Just like Junimo Hut, I doubt it will. They laze off if you just go to sleep.

No it won't.
Also, the longer you stay awake, the more likely you will get lightening strikes.
Also, the more FREE lightning rods (not processing, and NOT HOLDING a battery) you have the higher the chance of intercepting lighting.
However, if lightning is intercepted, and the lightning rod is processing, then sleeping will still count towards the processing time.

You need to let time pass for lightning to actually strike anything. Go to the mines or fish.

I've seemed to notice that I hear more thunder if I'm outside.

Hit up Skull Cavern with a Burglar Ring and hunt down iridium bats in lower floors, they drop batteries sometimes too. And check up the traveling cart every Friday and Sunday

The processing time is no longer relevant. One of the recent patches made it so that batteries are ready as soon as you wake up the next morning instead of after 24 hours like it used to be.
