I think it is the ??? project. Pretty disappointed as a remake/reboot of an already perfect game seems like a big cash grab to me.

Nah it's been confirmed to be a separate thing, Steins;??? will be a new game, not a remake

Unless this makes something significantly different, like an actual reboot does, this will not be as fondly remembered as the original, just like every other "remake" we got these last few years. You can't remake an already perfect game. I'd argue that in Steins;Gate's case, they won't even get any profits off of a new version that they hope they to get. One could say an alternative version already exists with Elite and that version had to hold Linear Bounded Phenogram hostage.

Best case scenario is a reboot type version, reinterpreting the original and making an alternative version of it, like Resident Evil 4 "Remake" did. And even in RE4R's case I'd argue that there was never a need for it to exist, except only to profit from the remake trend.

I would pay premium if they let me free-roam in faithful recreation of 2010's Akihabara in 3D, including and most importantly pre-demolishment Rajikan. But that wouldn't happen, would it?
