Bug Reporting (English)
Hi Lab Members,

If you run into any bugs or issues when playing STEINS;GATE, please comment here with the following details:
  • A short description detailing the bug/issue
  • Steps we can follow to reproduce the bug
  • Screenshots (if applicable)
  • Your system specs (Memory, Graphics Card, Processor, OS)
Below is a list of known issues and potential workarounds while the dev team looks into resolving them. Thanks for your patience.

Quicksave/Autosave data lost
Quicksave data is erased if you select "RETURN TITLE" from the system menu and exit the game without returning to the title screen. To assure that your data is saved, please select "SAVE" from the system menu before closing the game.

The game doesn't start from the launcher
Potential issue on Win10. Might be resolved by downloading and installing DirectX 9.0c. Please follow the steps on this site: {链接已删除}

Steps:
-Download the directx_Jun2010_redist.exe from {链接已删除}
-Open the directx_Jun2010_redist.exe.
-The directx_Jun2010_redist.exe creates a lot of files. Install it in a new folder.
-Among the files lies the DXSETUP.exe, that's what you want to run.
-It's at this point the game starts working for some users.
-It might not be required to enable Direct Play.

Full credit to user Hoxbot for finding this workaround. Original post: http://steamcommunity.com/app/412830/discussions/0/350542114327602739/?ctp=11#c350541595111969655

Black screen upon exiting game
There is an issue with how DirectX handles draws on Win10. This might be resolved by installing DirectX 9.0c (see above issue for steps) and updating Win10 and your graphics driver to the latest available. We're investigating whether this can be worked around on the game side.

The issue might also be corrected by trying a different cable. We have been unable to reproduce the issue over a DVI cable. We have identified certain monitors that display a black screen when they are connected by an HDMI cable. This issue has been confirmed on the following models:
- Acer T230H
- LG IPS236
- Samsung SyncMaster B2230H

Dialog/exit menu text missing
It's possible necessary files have been deleted by your antivirus software. Please check the installation folder for the following files.

In the USRDIR folder
Bg.mpk
Bgm.mpk
Chara.mpk
Manual.mpk
Mask.mpk
Mgsshader.mpk
Script.mpk
Se.mpk
Shader.mpk
System.mpk
Voice.mpk

If any of the files are missing, it's possible reacquire them using the following procedure:
1. Select the STEINS GATE application
2. Right-click to display the submenu and select ""Properties""
3. On the ""Local Files"" tab, ""Confirm Game Cache Integrity""
Click
4. Verification is done and missing files are downloaded automatically

Menu Scrolling Rapidly
This issue is typically caused by a laptop touchpad or a controller.

Laptop touchpad: Try disabling your touchpad temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

Controller: Try disconnecting your controller to see if it resolves the issue. It's also possible that the computer is still detecting a controller you are no longer using. Try going into Device Manager and uninstalling the drivers for the controller if this is the case.

Game crashes at launch/not starting
First check your save data folder is located below, Windows is allowing you access to it and both .ini and save files are present.
C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Documents\My Games\mages_steam\STEINS;GATE

There are two likely causes here:
1) An issue with Windows 10 if the Documents folder is set up to Onedrive.
{链接已删除}
To solve it you just need to switch location of your Documents to "This PC only" in OneDrive "Auto Save" settings tab. (Thanks to SashGun for the solution).

2) Your antivirus or OS blocking access to the save folder (Documents and My Games in Windows).

The bug: Unable to use Xbox Controller Series X controller to play the game. The game has partial compatibility with the new xbox controllers, which the game fails to pick up when launching the game.

Proof of partial compatibility:
https://i.imgur.com/UQQypPq.png

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect Xbox Series X Controller (the new xbox controller) to PC. Used Bluetooth for the screenshot, but also reproducible connecting directly to PC using USB C.
2. Launch the game through steam
2.1. Open Big Picture, then launch the game using the controller

Launcher would open, but the launcher is not controlled by the controller. The only way to start the game would be to use keyboard and mouse. Once the game starts, the game also does not detect the new xbox controller.

Current Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600
GPU: AMD RX 5700XT
Memory: 32gb
OS: Windows 10

hello. whenever I start Steins gate linear bounded phenogram all I get is black screen. I tried downloading DX9 but no avail. I tried changing compability mode still no avail.

I am using RX 5500 XT and i3 10100f and 8gb ram. I am using vga to hdmi adapter. can we please get a decent solution for black screen issue?

edit: how can I use dxvk on steins gate linear bounded phenogram? creating GATE folder and copying dvsk x32 to it doesn't work.

yeah i do, it worked fine with nitro's other games like saya no uta and you and me and her so i don't know why it's doing it with this game
Shouldn't share this with you because you appear to have chosen the cat killer however, i want to help a fellow amd user.

This was posted in another thread and it solves the issue. What it does is it uses the same tool that steam uses to make the game playable on linux (Directx->Vulkan, dxvk) and emualtes the game on the Vulkan graphic library. It will fix the game on AMD cards.

Found a way how to get it working on AMD 5xxx series without downgrading drivers (actually latest drivers are recommended this way).
  1. Download dxvk (directx->vulkan) converter which our friends on linux are using on almost every game to get them going. You can download it from https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases - "dxvk-<version>.tar.gz" . As the archive is in linux tar.gz format, you might need some unpacker to unpack it (total commander/7zip and many others knows to handle those)
  2. Unpack the archive somewhere for now
  3. Go to Steins;gate game directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STEINS;GATE" and create "GATE" directory inside (without quotes)
  4. Copy all dlls from extracted dxvk-<version>/x32 directory to created GATE directory
  5. Enjoy the game

Alternatively you can burn Linux on a 32GB USB stick (preferably Manjaro distro) and try out the game by booting from the USB.

Just download the link mentioned in this post then copy everything inside x32 folder and paste it inside the game folder and thats it! you are good to go

I recently bought the Steins;Gate series bundle but for some reason I can't launch any of the 4 games.

After launching S;G, instead of starting the game it gave me this error http://prntscr.com/zdnv5a
Also the exact same error for S;G Linear Bounded Phenogram
http://prntscr.com/zdo5lf
In S;G0's case, it crashes right after launching the game itself (it shows a black screen with the pointer for 1 second then it crashes
And then we have S;G Elite, where it shows this weird error and I can't press Retry or anything from that window at all (I also have to close it via Task Manager or I can't close it at all)
http://prntscr.com/zdoj6z

I tried almost any solution I saw in this thread but neither work, including reinstalling the games

16.0 GB RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz
NVIDIA GTX 1050

Can someone find a good possible solution to fix it?

Hi, did someone manage to find a solution for the stuck at "Loading System Data" bug?

I have played around 12 hours of game, it was working fine.

Now the game launches normally, but gets stuck on a "Loading System Data" screen.

The onedrive solution (set documents to "this pc only") does not work, and I have no antivirus running.

This feels like a problem with my PC or corrupted save data. Reinstalled the game and even Steam, problem still happens.

Any thoughts? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

I found a way to fix this - Basically I went to the folder C:\Users\Username\OneDrive\Documentos\My Games\mages_steam\STEINS;GATE\eng

Thats the folder for the english version of the game (I noticed that when downloading the japanese version the game worked)...

So basically delete everything inside of that folder. To be safe, in the settings of the game (inside of steam), choose to not keep the game files in the cloud, this option is off for me.

Hope this helps other people facing this issue!

It's because you have a Radeon GPU. the answer has already been posted multiple times.

Failed to activate Full Screen in Steins;Gate ("Display Initialize Error" / "display mode error" ). I bought the Steins;Gate game from steam.

First of all, my Windows is 10, I have 64 GB of Ram and the DirectX version is 12.

The game works in Window mode but every time I try to put the game on Full Screen it fails.

If I try to change the Menu before starting the game, this appears:

"Display Initialize Error"

If I try to change from the main game menu or by pressing Alt + Enter, this appears:

"display mode error"

I really don't know what to do, can someone help me please? My DirectX is 12.

In games, it doesn't matter what direct x you have installed, they run on their own directx version. Try the Vulkan dxvk method presented above. You never know what the result might be.
Also there might be problems depending on your screen. Are you using something like a 4k or ultrawide monitor?
Provide more specs like cpu/gpu/resolution/. In the end the easiest solution for any trouble would be to pay for (or try for free within it's 1hr limit) GeForce Now.
PokeChess 2021 年 7 月 2 日 上午 10:44
Thanks for the answer! Unfortunately I haven't been able to solve the root problem yet.

And no, my monitor resolution is 1920 vs 1080. I don't have a second screen yet, it's a notebook.

2TB SSD + 2TB HDD + 64GB RAM

【Processor and Graphics】10th Gen Intel Core i7-10750H 2.60GHz 6-Core Processor (12MB Intel Smart Cache, up to 5.00GHz) and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 Graphics

【Display】15.6" FHD IPS 500nits Anti-glare, 240Hz, 100% sRGB, Dolby Vision

【Ports and Operating System】1 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (always on), 3 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1 x USB-C 3.2 (DisplayPort), 1 x HDMI 2.0a, 1 x Mic / headphone combo, 1 x RJ45 ethernet, 1 x Kensington lock slot

I used winrar, and "Copy all dlls from extracted dxvk-<version>/x32 directory to created GATE directory"

I did as described in the comment copying the x64 folder (DLLS) since my windows is 64 bits and it keeps giving the same problem.

Pretty sure the game is a 32bit application so you'd have to use the 32 bit dlls, not 64.

Try to debug if your game is running on the integrated gpu or the dedicated gpu.
Try running it on both. Pretty sure you can disable one or the other, or there might be an option to select it when right clicking the desktop icon "Run with-> Nvidia GPU/Integrated GPU" or something along those lines.
Not sure as i haven't had an Nvidia laptop in a long time.

Another option off the top of my head to avoid troubleshooting a game where devs won't help you is to create a bootable USB drive with Linux with persistent storage (there are some gaming distributions out there like Manjaro). Boot off of the USB, install steam, install the game on the same USB and play off of it.

Some other things to try are installing the Comittee of Zero patch or refunding the Steam version and trying the JAST one.

Wish you all the best!

I uninstalled the game, deleted the folder with the files, and installed the game again. I put the 32-bit DLLs this time, and it also failed in the end.

About "if your game is running on the integrated gpu or the dedicated gpu.",

how do I see it? In the task manager appeared "GPU 0 - 3D".

Here, too, only the "Run" option appears. There is no "Run with" either on the desktop icon or if I right click on the game inside the original folder. And the option of having to tinker with Linux doesn't seem very exciting to me. Somebody help please. And Wikidude, thanks again.

Sound comes always through the built-in speakers/playback device seemingly at index 0, no matter what is set in Windows. It crashes if I disable it (see below).

Lacking information or logs, I assume the game always uses the first playback device it finds and ignores all others, including what is set as the default device in Windows. Then, if that device is marked as inactive or is otherwise unusable, the game crashes.

I haven't found a workaround, the game just refuses to work otherwise.

OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530

Thanks in advance.

The error message is:

--------------------------- Error --------------------------- ƒGƒ‰[‚ª”¶‚µ‚½ˆ×AƒAƒvƒŠƒP[ƒVƒ‡ƒ“‚ðI—¹‚µ‚Ü‚·B mgs::Audio::CPlayer::InitializeXaudio() --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
