jast ver. vs steam ver.
which one should I buy between the two?

apparently the JAST version has better ui while steam version has better resolution

is the resolution difference clear? If not, I'm going for JAST version.

I'd argue for JAST. The quality of translation is far more important, and JAST's version doesn't have text wrapping. Proper font size and better word choices too.

Then I guess the missing words I've been finding are oversights on their part.

Jast version has several minor errors that was fixed in Steam version. For example "Radio Kaikan" was replaced with "Radikan".

that's just a shortening, not an error. each of them have their pros and cons, jast is very inferior though when it comes to being able to be run on modern OS and graphical quality. (upscaling never looks good hnnyuu~)

There's highly rated review that butchers the steam version. Ignore it, both of them are damn good and don't let that review deter you from getting/enjoying the game. The storyline is so amazing, you're going to get lost in time travel that all these minor things won't make a difference. Just play the steam one, it's perfectly fine with a few minor bugs that definately won't take away the experiece of Steins;Gate.

The steam version has a horrible font, word wrapping, and some other issues.
Higher def CGs don't make-up for every problems, a VN is mostly about reading, and these issues are big enough to hinder your experience.

TL;DR: Either go for JAST or wait a few weeks hoping that the problems of the steam version will be solved.

We're working hard on fixing/addressing some of the issues brought up with the Steam version.

Thanks for that, good to know. Will probably pick it up before the sale ends if that's the case.

also the just version is drm-free. I don't know if you can start the steam version without the client (there are some games on steam that are drm-free like pillars of eternity).

The people nitpicking should just learn Japanese, tbh. It's not going to be that great a translation either way with so much Japanese only lingo that HAS no translation, lol. This version is more than fine outside the text wrapping on the phone.

They're nitpicking because another version exists. That's the whole point of the thread, to compare the two versions easily available to us for PC. Even small differences are worth noting aren't they? Especially if one version is cheaper than the other.
