The crying children - I feel bad

Greetings everyone,

I was at the church, heard crying chidlren. Looked everywhere on how to free them since the door is locked. There is no way to save them and I also did a small bit of research regarding people that are crying in Metro Exodus but apperantly they're crying cause they are scared and stuff and you cannot free them. Now, I'm at the bridge. Same thing, crying children and it bothers me that I cannot save them or help them. Just.. Leaving them behind.

Is this supposed to happen? Not like a small little side-quest thing?

It just sounds bro, don't worry, there arent probably any crying children, it also can be just Arthur imagination, and even if there would be, these children would be just NPCs made out code Numbers.

To be honest, I think they're crying because they're scared of you - what with you being a "heretic" and all that, they wouldn't let you save them even IF you could open the doors

not everyone crying is being captive. at the church and the bridge, those are just villagers who arent fighting you. they're probably crying because your outside shooting up their family. so no need to feel bad, they're fine.
