Change monitors
I just bought Metro Exodus, but when I start it, I can´t change my monitor. There is neither a setting to switch the monitor, nor there is one for entering windowed mode. Also it is not possible to accomplish is with Alt + Enter. Anyone here with a fix to this? It´s so annoying.

What are you trying to change? There is a resolution option in the game options if that's what you mean. There is no "window" mode setting for this game, but I believe it can be done, as I read about it in one of the discussions. I, personally, like playing in 'full-screen' mode so I've never bothered finding out how to do it.

What I meant is changing the monitor. I have a setup with 2 monitors and Metro starts on the wrong one and there is no option to change the monitor on which the game is shown. And you aren´t able to enter windowed mode, so you can´t just drag the window to the other monitor. Hope it´s a little more clear now.

has anyone found a fix for this? I'm having the same issue, it wants to run on the wrong monitor. I've tried Win+Shift+Left, doesn't work for some reason.

Windows Display settings will allow you to choose which monitor you want to use.

Exactly!! I'm glad you pointed that out. I should have included that in my first reply to OP's post, but it didn't occur to me that it would be necessary to mention something so obvious, but judging by KPD's post, it was.

Im sorry, what did I misunderstand? I thought OP had two monitors and the game kept wanting to play on one monitor when they wanted it to play on the second monitor. Similar to the same problem Im having. Your answer, "You can switch which monitor to use in Windows Display settings ---- right click on your desktop, choose Display Settings, Advanced display settings, and choose your monitor" didn't answer this at all. All that does is change each monitor's refresh rate, which doesn't address moving it from one monitor to the other. Usually, WIN+Shift+Left will move the game to the next monitor, it doesn't work for this game.

I think what he is saying is change your primary monitor to the second monitor, and it will make the game play on the real main monitor instead of the second monitor.
So, change monitor to 2nd monitor in windows to be the primary monitor, start the game, and it should play on the 1st monitor (the one you really want to play on).
Many newer games do this for some reason.
And its the only solution to play on the regular main monitor.

I fixed by using DisplayFusion. but the way Rudi-V explained it doesn't do anything at all so I had no idea what he's talking about.

I've had the same problem and my solution is to physically turn off the monitor that I don't want to use when I start the game... Which seems like a crappy solution. Any modern game should let you choose which display to use IMHO.

crappy but simple! I'll have to try that. Ive just gotten use to playing on the wrong monitor, which sux but works. Thanks!

Steam always likes to launch a game on whatever monitor you have set in windows as your default or primary monitor.
Right click on your desktop - display settings.
Click on the display icon you want to make primary, scroll down to under multiple displays section, select make this your main monitor.
Wrote this from memory but should get you close enough to the correct setting.

I feel like in this case it has very thing to do with the game. Valve games, CoD Waw-Blackops 2, Dayz, and Bioshock all launch on my primary display perfectly fine without issue. Metro decides to be weird and wants to launch on my secondary display which is a 720p TV.

I had to inverse this as no matter what I do Metro launches to the secondary display, so to play Metro with multi monitor you actually have to set your gaming monitor as your secondary display then the game displays on the correct screen. This is the exact opposite for every other game, so when done playing Metro I must flip it back the correct way around before playing anything else like Bioshock or Valve games.
