That was the first version of Shazza I designed but I wasn't really happy with the look so she got a new look which is what's inthe final game.
Yes there was originally going to be another set of levels. They would focus on you using the Zappyrang. One level was another outback level but at night and you'd be chasing down lights in the wky that you thought were UFO but turned out to be Frills with lanterns on sticks (image 171 in the concept art I think). Shadow was originally an early boss but we moved her around when we cut the game down pretty early on in production.
The first character is a Sugar Glider called Chockers. The model for her looked really crap so I cut her out of the game. The basic idea for the design returned as a nurse in TY 2 and we used the name for another character.
The Second Character is the original design for TY's sister Better. Who got redesigne in TY 2. Actually Betty in TY 2 was actually the design for a young Di, Ty's mum. From when TY traveled back in time and met his parents before they were married. (Duncan was originally young Bri)
Actually if you look at some of the billboards in Outback Safari you'll see that image. So they were in TY 1 already.
THe Protorang was just designed as a cool looking rang. It did fit the original time travel story for TY 2 but ended up getting reworked as the Smasharang.
now that sounds like fun
With the Emus the plan was to have the numbers be able to swap out so they'd be different but since you really couldn't tell in game it wasn't worth working any more on so they're all "7"
I noticed there's an earthy effect coming from the yellow opals, so am I correct in presuming that the Thunder Eggs in those levels would have been called Earth Thunder Eggs?
Would Betty have been evil then turned good, like Sly?
